Reminder: Airbag recall on Evo VIII and IX
For those of you who ignored the factory notice for your vehicle recall, or didn't know of it, the Evo is in priority group 1 of the 5 phases of Takata's airbag recall. Schedule a visit to the dealer and get your airbag replaced.

Or just remove your airbags and call it weight reduction :p

yup, definitely not something to take lightly. Imagine your gf or wife getting killed because someone rear ended you and pushed your car into someone else's causing the killer airbag to deploy. No thanks, no one is sitting in my car besides me until I get this recall done.

Mine has been unplugged for...like 6 months now.
I need to get it fixed but the dealership won't let me bring in the dash only or even trailer in the whole car with the dash removed. Nazis. |
Has anyone taken theirs in to a dealer up here and had the service done? I'm reading bad stuff about dealers blowing fuses in alarms, radios, gauges etc. Wtf is so hard about replacing an air bag?
|
they have to remove the entire dash. this means if you have jerry-rigged stuff in there (90% of people who wire in crap will do it poorly) they charge extra and cant' guarantee they'll have those things working after the fix
|
I took mine to Harris Mitsubishi in Everett, I was in the middle of a stereo relocation project so all my gauges and stereo were already unplugged and out of the car before I took it in to them. Fairly painless, only thing I noticed were some tiny scratches on the center console next to the cigarette lighter. Whole process took a couple hours.

Im gonna hate going to Auburn lol..

Does the problem affect ONLY the passenger airbag? I have a 2003, owned since new.

Looking at the link posted by Ryan, this doesn't seem to include the 2003 VIII, is that correct?
