Switched over to 94170015 and it seems much happier and logging less knock for some reason

Havn't p0300'd yet, and I have run it through all of the usual things that used to trigger it and my tranny is on the way out as well.

you need to check your plug gaps set them to .022 then check your tune and log the car...seems like the car is pulling timing...probly cause of knock

I've seen the car have no difference when the P0300 came on, I've had it seemingly misfire for a moment, then run normally, and I've seen it misfire like a *****, especially if I was putting any throttle into her. In all cases the light stayed on, of course, until I cleared it.

so whats the fix for this after all? I've read this whole post and still don't understand what I would need to do to fix this problem. With the new rom update Id assume Id lose my AMS tune I just got? It seems as this update does the fix for some not others. I still don't understand; what is the cause of this? I can't take the misfire anymore:-(

going to 015 helps a lot even if it doesn't eliminate. as for losing your AMS tune ... no reason to lose it. you just have to transfer all your table values to the new rom file before you load it to the car.

Don't forget to copy some of the other tables like Boost Limit...found that out today after hitting boost cut on a cold morning

what criteria have to be met for this map to be activated? I mean it shouldn't add it all the time. Is it just during part throttle cruise, or does anybody know?

This has convinced me to switch out my '08 ROM for the '15.

Now I have to go and rebuild all the fixes, patches, etc. That sucks.

I'd like to know if anyone who has done the 0008 to 0015 still gets the steady state p0300 during steady fifth gear cruising. I have one more day under my belt (~160 miles of driving since the mod) and still no p0300. Before this mod, I'd get it every day.

Also, I like to thank tephra for the knock CEL. It has made it incredibly easy to discern randon knock that I needn't concern myself with with consistent problems that occur regularly. Sometimes, when looking at long rambling logs, you don't get a clear mental picture of what exact driving condition causes the knock.

For example, I now know that the fairly regular knock between 2700 and 3400 rpms is only in first and second gear is ALWAYS during soft acceleration (pulling away from stop signs and signals). I have been working on this issue for a while, but can't seem to get rid of it. I've already pulled a lot of timing in the middle area of my map. But I'm gonna need to try other approaches or just live with it.... The CEL knock light has really helped identify the "situation" where it occurs. Of course I'm also always keeping an eye on the light during WOT pulls too.

One thing I noticed that freaked me out is if you leave your ECU "unpowered" for a long time (6hr or more) there will be one cycle of random knock in the mid 30s. It must be a test or something it happens only once, but it does it every time you you power cycle the ECU.

I'm almost convinced that it's phantom knock because knock sensor voltage is higher across all rev conditions. it now hovers around 1-2.5v when i hold the revs at 3k with no load.

I've been having knock issues with the old motor as well. Now I have a cosworth 2.0, new knock sensor, new valvetrain and very conservative fuel and timing. It only made the knock worse.

Smogrunner, have you tried listening to this knock w det cans? Do you think this is something that Albert at TT can help with? I've been thinking of going there because I'm all out of ideas.

Ok so i decided to switch to 0015 from my trusty 0008.. And now i get this knock on very low load at low RPM.. pretty much i will take off and it'll start knocking.. None of the adjustments i did helped, so i put back the 0008, because, well, low load knock is not real, it's annoying and shouldn't be that way.

So any of you guys figured out what the problem is? Or did you just reduce timing in those areas and deal with it?
