yeah, we had torrential rains just before gates opened. Track it's self somehow, missed the rain. Naturally, the rain left, the humidity stayed, so that's why we're pretty excited about the times and mph. If we can ever get a break on good weather in Oklahoma, maybe we'll see even better times. My goal is to get him into the 10's before the heat really set's in.

Dyno plot shows flat power from 6200 up. Calculations actually show these shift points as best for the hp/rpm/weight/gears/tires combinations. I've watched him progress with his launches and make adjustments to tire pressures, launch rpms accordingly. I feel very comfortable that a 1.5 60 is very near.

By the way, his post of 370whp/403 torque is old. New dyno should show 420-440whp and 400+wtq. Next week I've rented a couple of hours on the Mustang Dyno. Then I'll know for sure. Calculations at mph vs weight and et vs weight shows the CRANK HP at ~512-518hp.

wow great driving and good trap speed :) i really want to get started on tuning my own car too, it sounds like so much fun...

Nice times, I want that turbo :)

Thanks everyone for the comments and help. We actually got the 11.3 pass on video, so hopefully we can have it posted soon.

how much does the car weigh? looks like you have the carbon fiber door on it

OKIX May 13, 2007 02:12 PM

no..the picture in 9sec9's avatar is his car. Which has carbonfiber doors and trunk. My car which we are talking about here is does not have the carbon doors and trunk....I believe my car weighed 3125lbs

Well, I changed OKIX's stock DV out for the FORGE RS. Also, had to crank the MBC down several turns. Reloaded new maps and ran 15-20 logs while re-mapping at the same time. Load cells had to be increased from a top load column of 340, to top load column of 380. Calculated load was 383 at peak, mostly in the 350-370 range. Lost a little resolution down low, 30 and 50 columns, but at least, now I've got more to work with up top. Obviously, I had to re-map just about everything, diff boost at different loads/rpm, etc. After road tuning it yesterday, I was ready for the Mustang Dyno today. Past numbers show that it reads about 7-10% lower than the Buschur Dyno. Definitely a heart breaker. Another Evo8 with recent build and 35R, just put down 358whp. This morning, after making final road tuning changes, we put down 413 whp, 456 wtq. Not too bad for pump101 + water/meth. Now, it's time to hit the track tomorrow night and see if the 10's are in the cards.

good luck tomorrow bro.....hope to see 10s {thumbup}.

That is darn fast. What kind of timing are you running with 100 octane and Meth??

Shouldnt the traps be more like 124ish? Car still seems to be going slow for the power it has.

9sec9 May 18, 2007 06:56 AM

Car was putting down about 390whp on Mustang and trapped 121. Look at the results of other IX's (not VIII's) and compare. IX's have 1.096 4th gears, VIII's have 1.03 4th gears. That's easily 2-4mph difference in traps. I've noticed so many people comparing mph in traps but not too many comparing the other way around. Maybe another way to look at it is saying "Why do so many people have bad times for their trap speeds?". I've never seen a win light go on because one racer had a higher trap speed than another. You win when you're et is lower. Too many people hung up on trap speeds. It's only an indicator of whp IF the gearing is the same. Compare same gearing and tire height (after all, tire height affects final gear ratio) and then you can compare mph. I've looked at a lot of cars with SLOWER et's and they had higher mph. Why don't they have lower et's if their mph is so high? It's not just driving, it's AVERAGE mph from start to finish, not just trap speed.

Looks like an 11.9 for 378whp and 386 wtq is slow. His car ran 11.31 at 121.03 with only 390 whp (actually had just dyno'd 370whp, but I've upped it based on AFR and where I think he was), so 6 tenths of a second better at basically the same whp and torque. With that in mind, why isn't the 124mph giving better et's? I'll take the 11.3 @ 121 any day IF THE WHP/WTQ IS TRULY THE SAME. I've heard the bench racing since the 60's and the only thing that has changed is the cars.
