From what I've been told and from what I've read on other forums, I think/hope you will be pleasantly surprised with the response of the sxe.

What is weird is the car usually makes 33-34psi on the street with IDC ~97%. On the dyno I made 556hp@31.5psi and IDC was 99.7%. I ordered FIC1650's today so I will eliminate that issue, but still trying to determine what turbo I will go to next

Is it reading the same AFR for these tests? And are you changing the tune to make this work? Sounds quite odd.

Considering the following in T4 TS configuration:
  • Gen II GTX3582r (6662) (can use current manifold and turbine housing) - Estimating +30-40hp same boost
  • GTX3584rs (6762) (can use current manifold and turbine housing) - Estimating +50-60hp same boost
  • S362 SXE (6268) (preferred, but have to fabricate new manifold and downpipe) - Estimating +100hp same boost
  • PTE Gen II 6266 (can probably use current manifold, but new turbine housing requires new downpipe) - Estimating +75hp same boost
Suggestions and advice welcome.
Do you have a budget? Is there a reason why you haven't considered an EFR? (an EFR8474 would be an epic upgrade from here) Are you willing to sacrifice spool, and if so how much? And I thought the GTX3584RS turbine is not compatible with the normal GT35 turbine? It's definitely not the same wheel.

Odd....Yes indeed and AFR inconsistency has been frustrating, which I noted in a previous post.
AFR on 1st run was ~11.5 until 7000rpm where it dipped to ~11.15@7500rpm and ~11@8000rpm. Following that run I went into the RPM VE Table and lowered 7500 by 2% and 8000 by 3% and this was the only change made.
AFR on 2nd run was ~12.6@5000rpm tapering to 12.2@8000rpm, which I have never seen it do that before on the street.

If you're paying then no  Just not interested in the EFR stuff for some reason and they don't look like they package well because of the housings. Desire to be within 200-400rpm of current spool if possible. GTX3584RS has a wheel that is about 0.5mm larger in diameter so it is just a very minor reprofiling on the turbine housing to make it work, which my turbo guy said he would do for free and I get good pricing on Garrett so that is not the issue.. Turbine flows about 6% more, but I called a few other folks in "the know" and they were pretty much poopoo on this turbo. Much reported also by the GTR community and just not much of a bang for the buck vs even a Gen I.

Really need a larger turbine wheel to make more power and I don't think it will have too much affect on spool based on everything I can find. Garrett is supposed to come out with the new G40 series and also a G35 series to replace all the current stuff, but it won't be until next year so not really a good Garrett option right now. I think the PTE 6266, S362SXE (6268), or the older S362FMW (6268) all in 1.00 T4 TwinScroll are the front runner in my mind (today). The S362 FMW is similar to the SXE, but has the Gen I billet wheel and has a smaller compressor housing so it packages better.

Why no gtx4088 or similar ? They have updated aero too I believe

I looked at it (6568) and what I can find is that it can make good power, but laggy. I sold one of the pre gtx versions to a buddy with an RB25 and it was laggier and made less power than a p-trim turbo with custom wheel I had previously sold him so on paper it should have been better, but wasn’t . I suspect the turbine is the issue.

FYI, Twicks69 on dsmtuners reported hitting obscene spool rpm with his old school cast GT4088R TS T4 on his 2.3L stroker running a conservative race gas AEM tune.

Those results of the GT4088r on the 2.3L are 25psi@4750rpm for the runs that made ~600whp on 93 pump.

We won't discuss that his 700+whp results on C16 were done with 1000cc injectors and twin Walbro 255's.:dunno:

Just a quick video of the Varex muffler with valve open vs valve closed.

The Gen 1 3582R has incredible spool up . A great option for a Street Evo.

Do you have any interest in using Ethanol and maxing that turbo out around 700whp? The professionally awesome guys had a killer powerband on the gen 1 3582r.

If you are going to move into a different turbo for more power, The PTE 6266, 6466 work really well over the gen 2 3582r. There are alot of turbo's to choose from and we are spoiled by a wide variety.

I originally setup the EVO for E85 and all this stuff is still there, but the station by me closed so I now have to drive ~25miles for E85. Therefore, I just don't feel like the hassle because this is my daily driver. I have also converted the GTR to E85 and do plan on running flex fuel since I only drive it occasionally and actually take that car to the drag strip. I should be happy with what I have an leave well enough alone, but this is the nature of hp addiction.

Abacus Feb 28, 2019 09:42 AM

Thats a bummer on the station closing. Storing/using E85 is a small concern for sure. I drive my car 2-3 times a week but I use a few 55gal drums that I typically get about 2 months out of.

I'm a recovering HP addict ( LOL) but specifically chose 700hp worth of turbo to be the stopping point for my build. This platform seems to deal well at 600-750whp or so.

Well, when my wife see's me taking off the header there will be hell to pay. I'm gonna have to park the GTR in the driveway because when I put the EVO on the lift I usually have to move her van to the driveway and she gets MAD! I think I'm going to build the exact same style short runner manifold so I have as close to a back to back as I can get. BTW, I went with the 1.0 A/R T4 TS.

First order of business will be installing and tuning the FIC 1650's and then I am going to redyno the GTX3582r. I was only boosting 31.5psi when it made 556hp so I need to get that up to 33-34psi, which is what I normally see on the street. That will be a good baseline for then comparing to the S362 SXE.
