and the fabric on my seats is loose too

evoguy8264 Jan 11, 2005 07:18 PM

is there a correlation with big fat people and seats breaking/fabric tearing

plokivos Jan 11, 2005 07:46 PM

well, i guess if you're skin and bones, you'll barely touch the side bolsters or just feather the seat like if you're not there.

but the seat should accomodate everyone. It's cheap and thin plastic backing, that's what I'm thinking.

It's about inch thinner plastic than most aftermarket seats I've had.

Same exact thing happened to me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Cheap ass seats... they could have atleast put a better model recarro in these damn cars,,,, you think?

ya, my plastic to cloth on the drivers side always unclips and the leather is wearing a bit were you slide in the seat. I think it's the wifes ass though.

On my last Evo I had the same thing happen except I was trying to reach my cell phone which had slide into the back seat floor area. I have no idea how my cell phone could travel from the front to the rear of the car   {thumbup} gotta love those G's. But it has not happened in my new one yet but I have yet to squirm around in the seat so far. Maybe they fixed the problem??? You would think with Recaro seats that are like $1500 from Recaro's web site they would be made better.

Trimspa baby!!!!!!!!!!! that's all you need to keep your seats from breaking.

Glad my cars solid as a rock

My 03 seats are abit soft. Wraps okay I guess but I wish it could be harder. I doubt I break the seats as a I am a short and slim guy. Maybe some of yall should lose some weight?

The same thing happened to me, I was turning around to get my phone and crack! lol

I've never had a problem with the seats in my '03 that I traded with over 22K miles. Same with the MR, they seem to be holding up fine. OTOH, I weight around 160 and that might be why the seats are holding up well. I imagine some EVO drivers weight a bit more and that can definitely stress the seats more...... Maybe they did not strenghten those Recaros when they made them larger to accept the more corpulent American drivers?
