Anyone any good recommendations for intercoolers without needing to take out a mortgage ? |
Here's my Veterans' Day weekend in a nutshell:
Thursday:Spent all day driving around getting tools and parts to convert my Evo IV to Evo V Brembos. This is especially important because my front left caliper is seized up or something and has worn down the pad to the point the rotor is grinding away quickly. I let this continue for a while b/c I knew I planned to toss the stock parts anyway, but's it been doing this for weeks so I'm starting to consider it unsafe and in need of immediate rectification. Anyways, so I finally get the stock parts off around 1730 only to find that the stock caliper bolts don't fit the Brembos. I've read a dozen threads on this conversion over the past 4 months and somehow never noticed this little point. I put all the stock **** back on the car and hurried to Makeman (like a Japanese Home Depot) to buy bolts, but they don't sell high tensile strength ones, and didn't recommend what they had for use on something like automotive brakes. Friday: Picked up 10.9 tensile bolts in the morning. Then I spent all day doing the conversion. New rotors, Brembo calipers, put in the brake pads, attached new SS brake lines. I've never done any of this so it took me forever. I was finally bleeding the brakes around 2100hrs. Then I went to mount the wheels and declare it all done.......only to find that the OZ Racing Superleggeras I bought from the junkyard, supposedly off an Evo IV that was modded with Brembos....don't fit over my Brembos in the front. The back is fine, but the front calipers are waaaay too big. Turns out I needed OZ Racing Super Turismos, not Superleggeras. And now I have <24hours to find a full set and get tires before the MP's write me a citation for doing extensive auto work in front of the barracks (and spilling brake fluid). :( Living on base sucks. |
