1. Car got stuck in 3rd gear right as I was pulling up to the barracks. Turns out that on older Evos like mine, the bracket that holds the shifter cables to the transmission is attached with little pieces of rubber that wear out. Moved some piping around to get at the top of the transmission and zip-tie the bracket back into place.
2. Yesterday I finally picked up an Evo V wing, which I've been waiting for for ~2 months due to scheduling conflicts with the seller. It's been raining all weekend, and the rain finally let up this evening so I could install it. Struggled to remove the stock IV wing because the damn thing is attached with some sort of double-sided tape. 3. Had the gear get stuck once while driving to meet friends tonight, but it seems ok. I'll have to check my zip ties tomorrow. 4. Return to the parking lot to leave with my friends....and the car won't start. The battery is dead. WTF? I didn't leave the lights on, but my POS Erisin ES777A head unit has been acting wonky lately. Fortunately, I had the battery from my parts car in the trunk, so I swapped that in and drove home, then disconnected it (just in case, I need to make sure I can get to work tomorrow). Looks like I'll be checking the wiring to my head unit too. |
Spent about 10 hours with a friend (evo member) re-routing, re-looming, removing, and shaving weight in the engine bay.
Shaved about 15 LBS in few brackets, wires, loom and electrical tape. Here's a picture of during the wire's out and cleaned up. (Intercooler piping still not installed). http://img560.imageshack.us/img560/6474/dsc0244fm.jpg http://img528.imageshack.us/img528/1218/dsc0242kh.jpg |
Bought it and then drove it home 14 hours in one very long Night of Power.
Then I thanked it for getting me home safe and I thanked its brakes and handling for not letting me hit the deer that jumped in front of me a couple of time, then I went inside to get some sleep. |
Drove it through the pass on the way back from some relaxing time at the lake. Damn the pass was fun. :) Lots of hills and twists and turns.

Shopping for some tail lights, cause someone smashed my driver side tail... :(
|
Restored my hazy yellowed headlights to like brand new condition following the fixmyheadlights.com procedure and they look really good, better than spending $1,000dlls ea on replacements
