I have heard in theory you can get the city to pay for the damage to your wheel. Not really sure what that process looks like, but it might be worth looking into.

Sorry this happen to you man. I was recently in downtown and hit a hidden pot hole as well next to a greyhound station. It decked the passenger side of my front splitter so hard that it tore off one of the front lip mounts and greatly damaged the metal tab on my fender that the bumper mounts to. I was livid because it will never be the same after that unless I spent thousands on parts and paint.

CA roads are disgusting.

If my wheel ends up being bent (or any other suspension component), I might try to do something about it. If not, its just cosmetic damage and I want to get new wheels anyways. Either way, it sucks. I know I am not the only one this pot hole will get. Fighting the city of San Bernardino is a near impossible task anyways. They got no money...

I think you got it worse then me. A wheel is an easy, somewhat cheap fix, yours, not so much.

They are doing road construction by work and the main road is tore up bad right now. There is currently a pot hole that is 2ft long, 1ft wide and at least 8" deep that I can see from my desk. I watched a Civic hit it yesterday and it was ugly. Pretty sure his tire blew. Then a street over, you need an off road vehicle to be able to pass through it. There are at least 50 6" deep pot holes within an 1/8 mile. Its like they had land mines that went off every 3ft. I drove though it yesterday to get lunch and couldnt go over 2 mph while trying to dodge all the holes. Time to buy another Jeep to use as the DD until they fix all of it.

Yeah LA roads are as bad as Russian ones right now, potholes the size of microwaves. There's one on Wilshire right now that's like the size of a small fridge. This makes deciding between RPF1s and CE28s really hard. Hell, maybe it's time to face reality and get some Rotas or XXRs.

well count me in....just blew a strut on a pot hole.

Lumpy Sticks Jan 17, 2019 05:29 PM

Imagine that.... the killer pot hole has already been filled. Looks like it was about a foot in diameter. Bet it opens back up within a month since they always do a horrible job. Now they need to fill the next new one a mile up the road that's big enough to swallow a smart car.

Tax payers money is definitely hard at work.... making sure no one has a loud exhaust, not fixing the roads.

Edit - Here is the smart car sink hole I was speaking of. At least 4ft long and 3ft wide. Who knows how deep it is.

Turned over 61k today. Miles are piling up fast and I am enjoying every one of them. I bought this car to drive and that's what I plan to keep on doing.

I was actually sitting in front of the gas pump as I took that picture. Haha. 1/4 tank is when my mental low fuel light comes on. Thanks for the good words as well! I'll be sticking around for a bit.
