so why is there 2 brand new 08s, ones an evo and the 2nd an RA?, in a crappy trailer park?

^^lol. really underground i guess.

i dunno. they look like GTSs to me. one has an evo hood but a GTS spoiler and the other has a GTS hood and something that could be an evo spoiler... neither of em have the molded rear diffuser that i can see. i suppose the one with the evo hood could be a ralliart.
if that is the Evo I'm kinda disappointed. i thought its body would be different from the lancer in some way besides the front bumper being replaced :/ |

Now these latest photos taken in Death Valley capture a high-performance prototype being tested in hot weather conditions. One look at the huge dual exhaust pipes makes it clear that this is not the standard 2-liter engine. A look at the front also shows an intercooler mounted just behind the lower grille opening. Without question, this thing is turbocharged. But what is it, exactly? Mitsubishi is famous for its high-performance Lancer Evo, but the Evo always has a huge rear spoiler and bulging fender flares. This wolf in sheep’s clothing has the body of the standard lancer, and wears the 18 inch diameter allow wheels of the Lancer GTS. The front grille is unique, however. While most Lancers have a grille mesh that is flush with the front end, this one has the mesh recessed a couple of inches back. Perhaps this indicates that there will be a new performance model with a powerful engine but without the over-the-top racer looks of the Evo; a new Ralliart for those who want speed but discreet looks |
Lol, Jake... should have clicked on the link I posted earlier... haha (yawn)
Oh, this is probably the ralliart from what everyone is saying... |
Why the fog lamp on one side but not the other??????

those '09 ralliart pictures.. I noticed ALOT of things on this car and it is so much like the X that it makes me wonder why make a car so close to the X?
it has projectors, dual exhaust, the ribbing going down the roof (aluminum roof?) vented hood, intercooler etc... only way to keep it from taking X sales away is for it to be FWD and 5 speed. I wonder if it will keep the 4B11 how old are these pictures? if they are old it may just be pre-X pictures like how they tested the X on a previous gen lancer body but I doubt it why doesn't everybody here get an evo? for some it's the price. for others maybe they need a family car. maybe some want something less conspicuous than the evo. either way the RA fits RIGHT in between the 2 cars. while the GTS looks great and comes equipped with everything, it's slow. the evo is gonna be expensive, fast as hell, but full of things most of us will probably never use namely S-AWC handling and brutal turbo power. the RA will still have a sensible family car style with some things that hint at it's power (most likely the GTS wing, dual exhaust, vented hood, etc) without the bulging wheel arches and giant wing of the evo. it'll have sporty AWD and enough power to be fast yet not so much that we are paying for power oft not used (legally at least  ) so the RA is THE car to get for most of us. it's priced correctly at $25-30k. has the civil looks and creature comforts of the GTS. has a lot of the AWD handling and power of the EVO. all this and it looks just sporty enough to not attract thieves and punks while still having ample road presence and it still garners that special smile from the cognoscente who know what they're looking at. {thumbup} |
so everybody thinks that there will be an RA all-wheel drive lancer turbo? i understand it finally being turbo'd but why would mitsu make a mini version of the X with all-wheel drive? cause people will just buy the RA not the X!

^^agreed.

kinda back on the subject
it would be pretty easy to turbo the lancer... wouldn't even need to build a manifold build an extension to bolt to the OEM manifold, with a couple brackets on it to secure it to the same studs the mani bolts to the head with... oem exh flange on one end, turbo flange on the other, maybe 4inchs long. you'll have to make about 18inchs of exhaust pipe to make a downpipe to remount up to the factory exhaust. the rest is tuning.. and that can be done with split seconds FTC1 piggy back (stand alone style tuning) and a RRFPR for fine tuning. honestly.. you should be able to do it for around 2 grand plus your time if your so inclined... personally I would prolly charge someone around 1K for the fabrication, installation time I personally would also add monitoring equipment like a wideband o2 sensor and gauge, and a gauge to monitor knock, injector pulse width .. just to help make sure the engine doesn't go BOOM as for the hard parts... I would use a CT26 from a supra, and a water to air intercooler from a JDM STI ... but that is my preference. |
