Ok yes, I found out that Evolution parts will not work, so I got that cleared up.

As for the modifications...I want to have a strong pulling 2G and i've heard that could be done with minor modifications just like you explained, talon. I was thinking of something like this http://www.dsmtuners.com/classifieds...ct=46354&cat=4

Anyways, talon, what kind of mods are you running? I've been in the evo world a little too long and have forgotten what type of mods will get me to where I want and as of right now im looking at the FAQ at what type of mods to do first. But I just wanted to get a first hand answer on what YOU did first.

Thanks man, and to tell you the truth your car is exactly what im shooting and aiming for. Sleek black and black rims. Sweet and sexy car, good job with it.

My car's got a lot done to it, but power wise I am running a small 16 @ 18 lbs. Full intake with turbo-back exhaust with hf cat, way too big FM (but I like it! :D ) will all hard piping, and that's it. It's got fuel mods (pump, injectors, SAFCII) as well as coilovers, upgraded Brembo slotted rotors, and a lot of gauges.

That's the Clifs Notes, anyway.

You know that link you posted is a FWD, right?

Opinons are welcome since im "kinda" new to the DSM world.

Im going to with something along the lines of that..maybe change up the ecu...to an aem EMS. I <3 the dark black on both of your cars, thats exactly what im looking for.

Honestly, I think the 255 fuel pump and the 2600lb clucth are overkill for a 16g. I don't see anything on that about injectors, which you will need. I've got the 16g, 190 fuel pump with 550 injectors and I am still in the -%'s a lot on the dyno-tune. I guess it depends on your boost level and such. If you wanted to save some money, you could just get a 1g BOV... they hold boost well, which the 2g's stocker does not.

my first car was a 95 eclipse GST of which i still have pictures of in my garage. The car had a stock 7 bolt block, FP green turbo, and close to 400whp. I loved that car, but the front wheel drive was what killed me. If that car was AWD, i probably would have never bought my evo.

Yes, im looking along the lines of that kind of color/interior color. I wasn't suggesting that I was going to buy an FWD car :)

So basically
intake - exhaust - IC - hard piping - fuel - tune.

Sounds good.

Thanks, I feel like a learn something new everyday here

gatorade Jun 4, 2006 03:43 PM

turbo xs mbc
hks ssqv bov
accel thundersport wires
ngk bpr7es plugs
blitz full auto turbo timer
injen intake, k & n filter
phantom autometer boost, air/fuel, and water temp gauges
ported evo 3 16g turbo
ported evo 3 manifold
ported evo 3 o2 housing
lower i/c j pipes
3 inch custom turbo back exhaust,
hks muffler
installed s-afc.
550cc injectors
Aeromotive FPR
SBR SS FMIC J-Pipe

How is this looking? Just 2 questions....is a fuel rail neccessary? And what types of models did the AWD come in? Thanks man.

I don't think a fuel rail is necessary.

AWD Cars are badged as follows:
Eclipse GSX
Talon TSi AWD
Laser RS

Now it gets confusing because I believe ALL of the Lasers are called the RS, so you'll have to look for AWD specifically. Also, FWD Talons are called simply the TSi. So, just because it's a TSi doesn't mean it's AWD. It's got to say AWD. Eclipses, on the other hand, are very straight forward.

Talon Jun 4, 2006 03:51 PM

Also, the Autometer A/F gauges are a waste. Don't bother. If I had to pick three to do with, I'd go boost, EGT, and Oil pressure. If you're planning on road racing or something, maybe a water and or oil temp. Since I HPDE my car, I've got Boost, Oil Temp, Water Temp, Oil Pressure, and EGT. When I was lapping, I only looked at Oil/ Water temps, and OIl pressure. All three, very important.

The EGT is a great tuning tool, and makes sure you're not running too hot and too lean in many repsects. The stock boost gauge DSMs come with is worthless. I've got a boost gauge in my Talon because the stock one is unaccurate.

BTW, much better list except for the gauges. Everything looks pretty good.

Check out DSMtalk.com Another forum, and better than Tuners IMO, about DSM's.

Talon Jun 4, 2006 03:56 PM

I don't know about the SSQ. I've got the Greddy S because it can recirculate...

gatorade Jun 4, 2006 04:22 PM

Ok so i've put together somewhat of a more better set-up

Turbo: EVO III 16G with Ported turbine housing, 2G turbo install kit, and upgraded wastegate flapper.
Intake/Cooling:K&N Filter with RRE turbo inlet pipe, RRE upper I/C pipe, RRE fmic bend, GReddy Type S bov, GReddy FMIC, Fluidyne Radiator
Drivetrain: ACT 2100 clutch
Fuel/Fuel Management: Denso 660's, Aeromotive FPR, Apexi S-AFC-2
Electronics: APEX'i Turbo Timer, 52mm GReddy EGT and Boost Gauge
Exhaust: Buschur Racing 2.5-inch Exhaust, Buschur Racing 2.5-inch Downpipe, Evo III Exhaust Manifold Ported (7cm turbine housing)

Mach V Dan Jun 4, 2006 05:17 PM

You don't need an external wastegate with a 16G turbo. That'd be way overkill. The slimline fan is also not needed, unless you get a larger turbo. The Fluidyne is nice, but again, not needed unless maybe you're planning to road race the car.
