I did replace the lifters today (Topline) and now have tension on that rocker. Test run tomorrow. I hope that was the cause of the new rattle that caused me to drop from an anticipated autox event. not a spun bearing or something else

Q: Does anyone sell the 2.2l 94mm crank shortblock (i have no core to send)?

I have a standard bore bare block ready to build up ;)

I check my oil every time but not whats in the filter, never saw anything alarming. mostly copper dust from valve cover/baffles. I wonder if one of the tuner shops took another part from my car lol. if the roller is working then this was hammered from insufficient lift
I'll get the camshafts and new set of rockers. thanks
(Having the IE oil pan means more fresh oil to throw out lol)

Generally metal that small would be hard to see by eye in the drain pan. maybe if you put it out in the sun youd see the shimmer but even then most of it should collect in the filter.

The only real way to detect this sort of thing would be oil analysis. Yes you could cut the filter up but no guarantees youll see very fine particles.

what is it about those artec exhaust manifold + o2 housings that are creating such gains in power? it seems like people are regularly hitting 400whp on stock turbos with those insanely expensive parts

Ayoustin Jul 25, 2023 07:37 AM

It's a well designed manifold and the larger O2 housing helps reduce exhaust backpressure after the turbine wheel. I wouldn't attribute stock turbos over 400 to just those parts tho.

They're certainly not insanely expensive, most tubular manifolds are in the same $1000 price range.

LetsGetThisDone Jul 25, 2023 08:09 AM

On the EvoX's, just the manifold picks up about 5% hp on an 18k turbo. We easily hit 480-490whp with the Artec where they usually would about only make 460-470 on a stock manifold or the "other" cast stainless manifold.

As Austin said, they're not insanely expensive. They're priced in line with the other options available.

It is really nice stuff but you need a reverse rotation turbo to run their cast manifold on a CT

Yea that part is always painful with turbos on these cars. Xona and Garrett are really the only decent options. I've been hounding Borg to do reverse rotation EFRs for years but they haven't had enough demand.

Could you delete the power steering pump and then have an Artec Cast v-band manifold with a non reverse turbo with the turbo inlet behind the right-hand headlight?

I'm glad someone has been pushing on this. A reverse rotation 7163 would be very nice!

Would probably work but would make for some awkwardly tight radii to get the exhaust downpipe routed and I don't know what clearance to the front motor mount would look like. The Tilton car is like this, albeit it's a large EFR mounted on a custom manifold, but they had to cant the compressor upward a pretty far amount to get the exhaust pointed the right way. Basically what I'm saying is anything is possible if you try hard enough and throw enough money at it.

Tilton also has cut the rad support and gone to a custom half radiator.

Thats the other issue if u stay standard rotation and standard direction youd have to come up with another solution to the radiator. Rotheli racing had a v band setup which you could do but its pretty extreme and probably cheaper to just buy the right turbo. Im just gutted because i purchased a new garret G series about 3 months before i first saw the artec manifold

Is your Garrett not reverse rotation?

I'm not sure why that would be a hang up. The packaging/fitment is much better with the RR turbo.

it fits quite nicely as is...

The B1 frame stuff isn't too bad to package but the B2 stuff is another story.
