on a side note. the fastest car in our class/country set a lap record at the track in the final place breaking the current record by a whole second which was held by an open wheeler formula holden. then blew something in the motor and caught fire. Car is a Crawford Daytona Prototype with a 4L Twin turbo porsche motor making 1100hp. Link to it exploding here:

Oh man, what a bitter sweet record there. Glad they got the fire out and whole thing didnt go down.

yea very lucky. chucked a rod apparently. fibreglass burns well as u can see haha. he said he can still get bodypanels from crawford directly. and then its just fixing the motor etc. prob see it at round 2.

Back to my own car, My ACD Ecu is constantly faulting on code 65 which is the ABS monitor. apparently it needs to send a signal of 0.5v for 10 seconds to the ABS Ecu on startup. is there a way i can simulate this as i no longer have my ABS ecu? ive re routed everything as per the threads on EVOM but it hasn worked for me.

Again w/another non serious project, but: Did a quick detail on the rear suspension. Used some pH friendly SimpleG & went to town. Was looking pretty shabby:crap:

Trying to get it near the level of @V.8MR

What is "Ph friendly SimpleG"? That turned out great, not sure how you got all the staining off the aluminum but now I want to do the same {thumbup}

Simple Green?

Dallas J Dec 15, 2018 09:04 PM

I got the simple green part, but what is "ph friendly"?

kaj Dec 15, 2018 09:16 PM

I'd guess because it's non-acidic.

Jason knows!

Yeah, Simple Green has a pH level of approx 9 which is non corrosive to alum. There are products avail (i.e Aluma Bright) that has a pH of less than 1 which is very corrosive & will strip away alum to make it shine)

I just feel SG is a safe product around automotive components

Man that came up nice! did u just spray on and let it soak for a while or was there some intensive scrubbing involved? also did u do it in place or did u remove all the arms etc?

Quick update from me. weve developed a frame for our splitter to mount to to take more aero loading. as we stiffened the bumper up the splitter started actually applying downforce which led to it tearing off the bumper and going airborne during practice on friday

Also found that the boost solenoid had a broken wire hence why i only had wastegate pressure boost all weekend. which is positive considering we were 3rd in class all weekend but had no boost haha. Transfer case should be all back in by the end of next week also

Keep in mind, the rear beams were already decent compared to most. Was certainly getting messy after a few years of no attention

I used a diluted solution of SG, in a bucket, & w/a big o'l soapy brush, went to town:crap:. Certainly didnt pull arms off. Used a Scotchbrite pad, as well, on some of the tougher areas

Hey, we need some splitter pics please! {thumbup}

Dallas J Dec 16, 2018 10:10 AM

In4pics of new splitter mounts!

Id have more progress on the rear uprights or any of the other many projects I need to get to but had a request for an even lighter version of the uprights specifically for drag racing. A ton of work to FEA, remove material, FEA, remove material, FEA... rinse, repeat.. But these are down to about 6.25lbs from 11.75 stock. I'm sure there's more to remove, but needed to get to making. .
