I am so confused with this thread these days. Guess I've been away too long? Ethanol eating metal and also turning to water? What the...hah you guys crack me up!

He's got a big ass bag of chow there in the pic lol.

However 4 may not be enough for 1 weekend. I ended up with 8x 5gal jugs when I ran the stuff. You'll suck down 3/4+ tank easily in a 15 min session.

20 minute session is usually 4.5-5 gallons for me. So, bring car full of fuel and 4 cans is enough for a 5 session day.

yea i assume the consumption of fuel will vary widely based on track and power... i will have the car refilled at have to watch closely. the evo on 93 would use roughly 1/4th a tank each 20 minute session at autobahn south, hopefully the drop in efficiency doesn't translate over too heavily for track as it does for normal driving

LetsGetThisDone Sep 1, 2020 03:30 PM

You burn about double at the track.

I calculated my car to like 2mpg at Chuckwalla IIRC. At ~480whp.

Like I said though. Full car + 4 cans/20 gallons will be fine.

yea i'll be sure to measure when i go this time. it's going to vary widely though, again road america is a ton of straights vs autobahn south. we'll see. hopefulyl they have some relatively nearby. now that i have a tow car i can just use that instead of driving the evo to find gas in between sessions

So you left something in your car which leaked fuel vapor. Not really the ethanol's fault.

I leave lots of stuff in the car, never corrodes anything, so yeah. It's the ethanol's fault

+1 for me. I assume 5gal per session, so always take a container for each session I will be running. Usually 4, sometimes 5. Seems kinda silly carrying 20-25 gal of fuel to an event but meh

I use about the same at all tracks. 20mins is 20mins whether I do 1 lap or 50.

kyoo Sep 1, 2020 04:04 PM

ok - that makes 2 day events tricky i suppose without making sure there is e85 nearby. figure on the second day i don't take the car itself to fill up e85, so 20g is it for day 2.

LetsGetThisDone Sep 1, 2020 04:43 PM

I have a 55 gallon drum and pump for 2 day events.

RAmerica? Haha, ya you'd better check up on "nearby" if it's 2 days. You'll be needing it with just 4 jugs. At Sebring I went through all 8 doing all but one session in a weekend, so RA will be 110% of that. You'll end up with the drum eventually ;)

Retuned the raptor today. Picked 25hp and 20tq, and it's get about 1.5mpg better.

whaaa just from retune? how?

kyoo Sep 4, 2020 09:00 PM

question re: jacks - i just realized even my heavy duty jack is rated only for 2T - the sequoia is 3T. obviously jack safety don't pass limits blah blah BUT - jacks don't pick up the entire weight of the vehicle when you are jacking up one side, correct? Should only be picking up about half, or 1.5T in the case of the Sequoia?
