They either evac'ed the system (for no reason, the work you had done didn't require it), or your AC had been non-op already and you didn't know.

used it on the drive to the shop. a mystery, but as long as it's working now i'm happy.

Does anyone happen to know the weight of an empty TC housing? I'm looking at the magnus billet option for some additional weight saving but its crazy money. Trying to figure out if it is even lighter.

Thanks!

The entire, fully assembled (but empty) non-acd housing weighs in at 17.2 lbs. Just weight it now myself. whats the magnus billet one weigh? I was debating getting one but then found a full casting for $1200. Beats the heck out of $3300.

I have been told that they are heavier. Stronger but heavier.
Theres cheaper options to save mega weight.

Carbon doors knock 60kg off stock doors. Tubular rear subframes take off 30kg

I have this stupid looking cam. is this damaged or a manufacturing defect?

Yeah, I would say the cam and probably rocker are both bad. The rocker had to have caused it though Ive never seen it happen before.

ViciousLSD Jul 11, 2023 01:46 PM

Isn't it weird it didn't damage to lobe where there's more pressure?

Dallas J Jul 11, 2023 01:51 PM

Kinda but maybe there was enough load at that point the roller was forced to turn and it was low enough at the flat to skip/rub

Ayoustin Jul 11, 2023 01:53 PM

How long have the cams been in the car for? Could be a number of things. Make sure the roller on the rocker arm is good and the lifter compresses properly before you reach out to them though as they will immediately question that.

ViciousLSD Jul 11, 2023 02:06 PM

maybe 9 years/15k miles old. I'm not going to chase the manufacturer.
I'm about to replace the lifters tonight and see whats up

Thanks, I have all that. Magnus Housing empty weighs 16.6 lbs. their estimate loaded is 33-36lbs.

Thats the rocker not wanting to spin. Time for all new rockers and lifters along with the new cams.

ViciousLSD Jul 11, 2023 11:25 PM

There was no tension on the rocker, but the roller does work fine. I dont see any damage to the rocker.
I did replace the lifters today (Topline) and now have tension on that rocker. Test run tomorrow. I hope that was the cause of the new rattle that caused me to drop from an anticipated autox event. not a spun bearing or something else

Q: Does anyone sell the 2.2l 94mm crank shortblock (i have no core to send)?

Buschurs seem to always have short blocks up for sale on their facebook maybe talk to them?

You should replace the whole assembly under that cam lobe to be safe. rocker, roller the whole lot. and youll probably have metal in your oil and filters although the failure doesnt seem massive, should do an oil change to be safe if you havent already

I dont know how to spec out the motor lol. I just want to start collecting the parts. maybe buy a shell if it comes up. will check whos on FB i can chat with

I check my oil every time but not whats in the filter, never saw anything alarming. mostly copper dust from valve cover/baffles. I wonder if one of the tuner shops took another part from my car lol. if the roller is working then this was hammered from insufficient lift
I'll get the camshafts and new set of rockers. thanks
(Having the IE oil pan means more fresh oil to throw out lol)
