From my expierence with both items over the last few years; rhino liner is not made to be used on exterior components as it is designed to adhere to the paint or base coat its being sprayed on. Plastidip is NOT rhino liner; its two different brands and two different concepts behind the the R&D behind the development of the brands.
Plastidip is designed to protect and peel as needed with no damage to finisih it is sprayed on.

If the clear coat did indeed come off with the Rhino product. i would highly suggest getting some platisip to protect it until you clear coat again. As you have potential to sun fade and rust with elements.
Hope this helps.

First, take some close up pics (in a well lit garage) of the paint area in question, let us see what you're seeing.

Secondly, you are correct that Dip is suppose to add another layer of protection to original paint. I've witnessed first hand of some of the exotics (Lamborghinis and Ferraris) that had been dipped and later had it removed Without any kind of issues to the stock paint. So, no it's not likely for Dip to cause problems factory paint.

I've done autobody repair and whole vehicle re-paint in a booth/oven before and I must say.. Mitsu seem to spray a Ultra thin layer of Clear & pigment... Way too thin IMO.
Just like their sheet metal ;)

Welcome to the forum!

Let me guess.. you're a LED Fiend, cause that's a whole lot of diodes!

dxk Aug 12, 2014 07:18 PM

yup i am, been an led fiend since i had an evo 9 mr, then onto the evo x, now this guy! i got inspired from your led strip headlights, been wanting to do it for the longest, i thought about running the strip inside but didnt like the whole idea of baking headlights. will post pix in a bit ;D

didnt finish painting sides and rear bumper black, will soon

http://i61.tinypic.com/vy1ly0.jpg
hard to capture the leds on this but its 48 each side

http://i57.tinypic.com/257opjp.jpg
added 3 x 2 on the beauty mirror ;p

http://i60.tinypic.com/eimdrt.jpg
ran a strip of 5050 waterproof for my glove compartment, that part is usually dark for my eyes to see. ill rig up some kinda switch to turn off while the glove box is closed, its on when i have the park lights on

http://i62.tinypic.com/2ynos2o.jpg
i seen they had a kit for this, i ended up making my own bootleg wire harness for driver side, passenger side and rear side x 2, running bullet style connectors for easy swap incase i decide later on i want to change the color to another aka blue, red etc..

http://i60.tinypic.com/2yukdae.jpg
passenger underside, now the people in the rear can see whatever they dropped on the ground

How did I know... :D
LED Mega Fiend in the house.. That's a bit too much, don't you think?

But, I'll give you props for your efforts.

And, yes I think you'll want to change some of those bright light to something like blue or red to protect yourself (and passengers) from flash blindness, especially at night.

plasti did eating wax/clear coat

Ok to answer you guys. For pictures of the issue its still looking good dipped and I dont wanna take it off and it doesnt look any different. Only difference is that If you run your fingers along your paint pre dipping with "plasti dip" it does so smoothly and quietly like if theres cooking oil on the paint. When you do this same thing post dipping your car even after only 2 hours of application the paint feels streaky like when you clean a frying pan that use to have oil in it but you clean it til you get the non glidey squeeky clean noise. To clear up the rhino liner comment i meant my ****ty dip job looked like rhino liner not that I used rhino liner lol...for you autobody guys id feel your normal vehicle surface then spray a square of dip on a non conspicuous spot let it sit 5hrs peel it then feel the area again to see if this issue is reproducible...my OS is 2013 i heard mitsu has some cheaper paint jobs..let me know what u think guys

This isn't something I did today, but I did a few months ago. Might as well post it since I'm new to the forums :p I added a new head unit with built in GPS because my previous phone GPS was just awful. Plus this opened the option up for a rear view camera and such.

Attachment 317477

Managed to hide my rear view camera wires up to my head unit, but still waiting on the last plug to be able to actually plug it in, so the wire is just chilling in my glove box for now.

Also put on my front mud flaps, I'm holding off on adding the rear flaps because I got rear ended the other day so my bumper is getting replaced anyways... no use to put them on for them to be taken right back off.
Attachment 317478

You can barely tell I got rear ended, the bumper damage isn't visible but it killed the shocks and you can see a small dent on the hatch near the lip.

Thanks for the welcome! And yea, I'm so glad it barely did anything. The woman was stopped behind me then just randomly hit the gas, so probably only hit me at like 5-10mph lol.

Women drivers.. Psst! Putting on makeup?
Glad no one was hurt.

There's something about our rear ends that attract other drivers to bump us, it seems. How many is that now - of our members who reported being rammed jacked?

For your next mod - Get yourself a CURT hitch and rhino up, just in case.. :p

i use waterproof 5050 led strips. on ebay you can get them cheap. find the 5 meter ones, that will last a while. the color white is a hit or miss, i ended up with a bluish white. i got the other led that the other guys are rockin, the side mount led, i just dont know how long those will last as the led is super small vs 5050 which has 3 diodes in 1 ;D
