I am running my '03 Evo with the Vishnu Stage 1+ "off-the-shelf" tune for 91 octane -- the one that's downloadable from Vishnu's website. (264i/272e cams.)

I had custom tunes (by Shiv) for 94 octane and 100 octane when I lived on the East Coast. The "one-size-fits-all" 91 octane map clearly isn't extracting the most from my car, but until I get the SMART hookup and get a retune, that's what I'm stuck with.

Anyway, I ran 8.282 at 83 mph the one time I ran at the Q. 1.799 60' time.

I was granny shifting the car, and I'm sure the car could do a little better, but I'm not primarily a drag racer -- mainly an autocrosser and was just interested in how the car would do in an 1/8 mile.

BTW, my car also has a Quaife front LSD, ACT race clutch, and Toyo RA-1 tires.

How does having a front LSD compare to not having one when autocrossing? I've been looking into getting one but can't decide yet if I want that or a bigger turbo right now.

Hopefully within the next month before going to Spring Mountain Raceway in Pahrump, NV. at the end of October. I'll have to look in to TT a little bit more, doesn't seem like there are a lot of Evo tuners down in SD.

Well there arent as many as LA area thats for sure. However, there is a decent amount. On the other hand it seems most the evo owners I see down here are older men. And probably arent into forums liek us young people are so they wouldnt know what to do. However, TT is the best bang for the buck by far! Look at me. I have the first established 9 with over 500whp on the stock head and stock ecu.

HONESTLY, THOSE ARE SOME PRETTY DECENT TIMES BUT I OWULD STILL SEE ALFRED. Dynotuning is always better. Btw, how you like your quaife?

The front end "tucks in" really nicely when you get on the throttle while cornering. With the open front diff in the '03, the car would push pretty badly when full throttle at corner exit. It could be tuned out with suspension adjustments, but you'd be sacrificing handling elsewhere.

With the front LSD, the outside front tire is able to get enough torque to actively push the front end in the direction you're turning (with the open diff, the outside front tire had plenty of grip, but not much available torque).

Some say that the LSD makes the car looser, but that's only in comparison to the behavior with an open diff.

I'm an older man (40). I've owned cool cars since I bought a '71 Porsche 914 in '89, at the age of 23. It was a weekend fun car -- I also had a "sensible" daily driver Ford Escort.

Ever since then, I've always owned at least two cars, at least one of which has been a performance car.

I hope I never get so old that I stop driving cool fast cars, or that I stop learning.

If your car is an '03 like it says under your screen name, it came with an open front diff.

The '03 and '04 "base" Evos (non-RS, non-MR) had the open front diff. And for the '03 model year, all USDM Evos were the "base" package with the open diff.

See what I mean. Not that its bad. Just an observation I have noticed down here. I duno if its because the evo is too expensive for young people or if this specific tuner car just appeals to the older generation. Of course I have seen plenty of people around my age(22) driving them its jsut I have seen a huge amount of older people now driving tuner cars lately. The 350z and the s2k is some other ones. Most people your age are usually into muscle cars.

Well I have driven a couple of porsches. They are great cars but too expensive IMHO.

Well of course I see alot of young people but I see larger demographic of older people than usual. I would say the last 3 evos I have seen(friends not included) cruising around here were older guys.
