quick question for all you guy that are pro detailer out there, what do you guy do exactly when you fully wash your car. these are my step and i am woundering if i am doing it right.
-wash with meguairs gold class shampoo& condition -while wet claybar with mothers claying kit, detailer and the claybar it self(i dont use there cleaner wax, is that bad?) -quick rinse -meguairs gold class wax -donzo well just give me some pointers if i am doing it wrong or right  |
Roger, Alan anyone I need your help. After my last run last night my clutch feels like it has bumps in it. Only when the car is on and the clutch is engaged when you pull it out you can feel that it has a texture. Can you guys help me figure out what this problem is? It's worrying me to death.

This should be applied via applicator pad then I use the buffer to wax on and then I use meguiars gold class microfiber to wipe it off, then last process (usually done by a professional) is the seal process usually done by using a professional grade sealant(this actually seals the wax that was just applied onto the car and gives it that extra protection it usually makes the wax job last twice as long). Also NEVER EVER use armor all for anything. Armor all is a ametures way of shining things up. It also ruins anything that it touches. |

Respectfully, I gotta disagree with you on the Armor all, I have used armor since the mid seventy's my old mind won't go further back then that. I've heard all the stories and excetra, but the stuff has worked for me. Each car that I've sold the dashboard and every area that I've used armor on has looked like new. What helps is that I also use a sunshade for the dash. I use to use it on the tires, but now I use the Eagle tire products on the tires. Tein Heres what I do: Wash the car (with a good car detergent) Dry the car with cotton towels. Note: these towels are only used for drying the car and nothing else:When I get them, I wash them several times, remove all the tags and... most importantly test them on another vehicle (my player mini van) then if they pass my no scratch test, then they get stored in the keeper bin. I use the 3M Perfect it to removal all swirls and scratches (If I have any) this is put on with a Porta polisher and applicatable pad. The polish is buffed out using Meguiars NXT exterior detail spray, the Porta Cable polisher a new microfiber towel. After this is done, I use the 3M Show and Shine wax applied with the Porta Cable polisher and the wax is buffed out using Meguiars NXT detail spray, the Porta Cable polisher a new microfiber towel. Once this is done I "Armor all" all the inside areas that have vinly on them. Actually to be truthful I also use Meguiars NXT interior spray on the insides sometimes, cause it works and it smells nice. This is a rough of how I do things of course YMMV on the path that you chose. When I "WASH" and "WAX" my car it takes me 8 hours. But when I'm just washing and waxing my car I can get away with being done in 3 hours. So to answer your question, basically you are on the right path. You can go here http://www.autogeek.net/ for more information and ideas. Uhhh, I'm not an expert at any of this, but you've seen my car. ltr m~

^Well like you just said you use a sunshade. Well try using the stuff for prolonged amounts of time and exposing it to prolonged amounts of sunlight you get horrible results. Armor All WILL dry out and cause your interior to crack and fade with prolonged amounts of sunlight. You can ask any real certified detailer this and they will tell you the same thing I just told you. I recommend you stop using as I recommend this to everyone of my clients. I use a sealant/shiner made by 3d products that actually does seal and refurbishes interior and even with prolonged amounts of sunlight it protects the results of this product and others of the same caliber rendor much better results.
However, your opinion of great results and my opinion are definitely most likely 2 different opinions. Also to give you a hint the products to shine your tires also dry out your tires as well. The only stuff that works is either the meguiars or stuff that professional detailers use. Also I dont remember seeing your car. Sorry that I dont remember. |
HA!
You gotta love this, I've had the same discussion about Armorall with other folks and was blown away by the passion of the responses. As with most any product you have those who like it and those who don't. I just started using a sun shade about 2 yrs ago, my wife bought me one. But I've used Armorall since the seventies, probably longer than that, I think that I used it on my 69 Plymouth GTX and 72 Chevy Vega GT (now that was a rocket) and never had a problem with it. Now, my coworker called me an "idiot" and several other things for using it claiming that it cracked the dash on his late model (at the time) Datsun 510. It was actually really funny to see him get so worked up about it, but the stuff works for me. Now, that I've kinda gotten into detailing a bit, I want to stay with one product line for as many things as I can, so I'm using the Meguiars NXT interior detail spray on the inside of my Evo and Armorall on the inside of my minivan and the wife's car. The only difference is that the Armorall provides a bit more sheen to the dash, which is not a bad thing for the grayish color dash in the minivan and the wife's car. RE"Well like you just said you use a sunshade. Well try using the stuff for prolonged amounts of time and exposing it to prolonged amounts of sunlight you get horrible results. Armor All WILL dry out and cause your interior to crack and fade with prolonged amounts of sunlight" It just did not do that for me, however prolonged sunlight will do the same for almost anything, even plants <---- They gotta have water RE"I use a sealant/shiner made by 3d products that actually does seal and refurbishes interior and even with prolonged amounts of sunlight it protects the results of this product and others of the same caliber rendor much better results." Hell I might buy some and do a sunlight exposure test. Spray it and Armorall on some vinly and come back in ten days and view the results. RE"However, your opinion of great results and my opinion are definitely most likely 2 different opinions. Also to give you a hint the products to shine your tires also dry out your tires as well." Actually, I'm testing this out on the mini van it gets armorall on the tires and I'm using Eagle tire shine on the EVO, so far I'm liking the Eagle tire shine on the Evo, it provides a nice sheen to the tires. RE"The only stuff that works is either the meguiars or stuff that professional detailers use." I have to agree about the Meguiar products, they just flat out seem to work. I like the 3M products better for waxing, polishing, removing scratches etc, however I use them both mainly 3M on the Evo, Meguiars on the minivan and the wifes car. RE"However, your opinion of great results and my opinion are definitely most likely 2 different opinions." HA! RE"Also I dont remember seeing your car. Sorry that I dont remember" I was actually talking to Tein, he's seen it. Now for something else: Accessport by COBB Are you thinking about it? ltr m~ |
^You should really learn to use the quote button you would absolutely love it since you like to break down posts.
However, as you just said, I have also myself had this same discussion with numerous people who swear by the product much of them are just like you who are old schoolers who dont know any better because you've been using the stuff ever since it prolly came out. And its hard for people like me who are young to even get into your heads because.... well I am young and what the hell do I know right? You have been driving and cleaning a car before I was even thought of yet. You like most the others are set in your ways. Which I am not saying its a bad thing, but its just reality. Now it may have worked for you but in what way has it worked? Like I said the results of this product arent to my satisfaction, but are to many others who use it. I guess in this case its all personal perspective really. I will just leave you with this. How do you know the product your using really works until you see the results of other products? Until then you are under assumptions. |
Also I almost forgot. I ACTUALLY GOT TO SEE THE COBB TUNING DEVICE IN PERSON AND TALKED TO THE TECHNICIANS OF COBB AT MOD. It kinda reminds me of the xede. However, it is supposedly evo 9 savoy. Now I cant say that I recommend it ornot cause I havent yet seen it put out any great tunes or great numbers on a dyno but I can say that you cant go wrong with dyno tuning.
