My Evo 8 build
All of my feedback will be from the perspective of having a fun daily driver that is running 92-octane on the stock 2.0L.
The FIC 1050cc injectors will work just fine with 92-octane. If you make the switch to E85 in any sort, 1450cc injectors (along with a Buschur double pumper) will need to be purchased.
The Competition Clutch that you have is a great option as you can still run the OEM flywheel without issues. I have this same clutch and at 470wtq, all things are totally good to go.
O2 dumps are a good investment. They are not as loud as people think and are only noticeable during wide open throttle. If you believe that this is still outside of your tolerance, then any good quality O2 housing (i.e. MAP, JMFab, Buschur, etc.) will work.
As it relates to exhaust manifolds, you have to keep in mind that there is a trade-off between the OEM ported and tubular. The tubular exhaust manifold will push your powerband to the right a tad and give you greater top end. The OEM will give you a quicker spool and gain some torque, but will not make the same top end power. The Buschur ported/coated OEM exhaust manifold is a good option. For tubular manifolds, the JMFab or MAP variants are good options.
For the filters (yes, the same things matter), I would look into either the Perrin or Amsoil as there is a pretty good "filter test" thread floating around.
Lastly, at least for now, get yourself the AEM wideband O2 sensor as it is one of few that can be used to log.

Wow thank you sir thats some good info i did forget to mention i do have a glow shift data logging wide band along with oil temp and fuel pressure gauge pod then in dash i have the DEFI boost, EGT, and oil pressure gauge kinda went gauge happy there and my exhaust mani i think is short route tubular if i can get a pic of it sent to me ill post it i have no idea what brand it is so i was thinking untill i can afford the shiny new AMS one i really like the reviews ive read on the MAP ones thank you again man for your tips i may change my mind now with the injectors and pump now instead of having to change it all out later on if i decide to start running e85 and im gonna look into the 02 dump i just watched a video of an evo 9 with one and maybe im obnoxious but i like my car to sound like dont play around with me lol cuz i really dont race on the roads so i figure if it sounds scary enough i wont have so many stupid ricers mess with me well for the exception of 90% of the hondas in my area they're really aggressive lol i mean the turbo spool right now sounds amazing so i wouldnt mind a little extra noise if it actually helps performance wise i can deal with it
The Buschur BF272s are one of the best cams for the EVO 8 platform.
According to Buschur: The ultimate in EVO camshafts. This new custom grind from Buschur Racing has proven itself to make the most power of any camshaft we have tested to date in the EVO. We've had these cams custom ground and are glad we can offer them at a reasonable price to our customers. These camshafts are recommend for use with FP RED, GT30 series or larger and will require our spring and retainer kit to support them. (sold seperately).

I disagree with the above statement but whatever its not about my likes or dislikes. I have my reasons not to like them but whatever. If your looking for 450 to 470 I will agree with Lavar on a few things stated before. E85 1450s although right now I am hateing mine I think there is a prob with them, but for pump gas I have ran 1150s and they were flawless. If e85 isn't available, then I would go with the 1150s and meth, or just 1150s you should be close with a good tuner. He wont need a double pumper for e85 on a red, but it never hurts. The hp he is looking at he could get away with a wally 400 or 450 with no issues. My personal opinion is I would also trade up on would be that comp clutch. Do youself a favor and spend the money on a nice twin, for the simple fact that it will throw whatever hp you want at it. Not to say they are lighter then most. Another thing too is a good wide band. Mani wise I agree with Lavar, go map or toxic fab. You want good performance, go with better quality stuff. Made my mistakes long ago with my dsm and never again with the evo. Just my $.02. Good luck with the build.
Why would he not need a double pumper on the FP Red? Are you referring to running the FP Red on pump/92-octane, then I agree 100%.
The Competition Clutch is a great selection at well over half the cost for the Exedy twin. I am shifting at 8,500 RPM without issues with 470wtq, remember? English Racing is pushing it with well over 500wtq.
you're still in iraq??!! you in the military? cause i just got back from my deployment and im pretty sure there was handfull us with myself that were the last ones there. oh well, your build sounds awesome. you should go with bigger injectors depending on pump gas or e85.

E85 and an English tune will be awesome
I cannot debate one way or another about using meth for a daily driver. I prefer to keep things simple particularly on a daily driver. This is just my own comfort level.

deff getting more great info guys thank you i do appreciate all the help i can get now im just in the air on turbos AGAIN between the EF3, FP Red, or 73HTA Green haha back to the drawling bored's I've read great reviews on the EF3 heard some great things about the Red DBB and not to much on the HTA but im deff got alot of thinking lol thank you again everyone for your help
There all great turbos. I guess it just depends on what you can afford and or what kinda deals you can get. Me I like the ef3 being I do have an ef4 and the things a monster. I would say the ef3 isn't to much of a downgrade being they share components. The red is another good choice but again dbb and the price is it really worth it? Same thing with the green.

thats kinda what been getting me theres a pretty big gap in price and yea the EF3 isnt DBB and im sure thats gives up a little something some were but is it enough to say no to a great turbo also i was a little skechy about the HTA green but i dont know enough about it to judge jsut wanst sure if i wanted so much umph so soon yea a snappy DD is nice but i still concider 4500 spool pretty snappy like i told levar i keep seeing ppl say its supper lagy and it confuses me a little have they never heard or seen the real lag of a i dunno 42r or something of the sort lol but maybe im more patient lol i just want to have fun and scoot around and maybe go to the track and hopefully finally beat my lil brother and his stupid built s/c cobalt lol he rapped my 2g a while ago and i want payback lol at the track trough so he doesnt try and do some 45 roll on race like hes always asking me to do stupid super charger lol thanks again guys

Here you want to know more about the ef3 and what it will do read through this thread a little bit.

yea the only way he said he'll race at the track is he wants 2 cars
but yea as far as racing goes that about it just want something that with the right supporting mods can help produce the power im looking for and be safe at the same time dont mind coming into power at 4000+ rpms so im leaning towards the EF3 price is great and seems reliable and makes the power i want yea its not the DBB but unless its worth paying that much extra for it then i may stick with the EF3 i notice yourself and levar and quite a few others running it ive never seen it in my area all everyone talks about is fp black and green so i never even knew wth a EF 3 was lol but ill keep my eyes and ears open i got a few months before i can even get home so i have some time o and this may be a stupid Question how does the ef3 sound spooling its my favorite part of a turbo kinda why i wanted to do an 02 dump just didn't want to look like a dumb ricer
I can't speak from the ef3 but with my ef4 with a 4 inch intake its loud. I mean me personally I don't care about hearing it spool, but as long as it performs I'm happy with it. For me and I am sure as for others over 700 bucks for 500 rpms of spool isn't something I am worried about honestly.
