I would make sure the brakes aren't dragging a bit. My car, and my friends X, the front calipers are both equally discolored.

I'll check. I also noticed yesterday after swapping rotors that just the outer side of the drivers brembo is dark, the inner side is not as dark.

Yeah, you def shouldn't be seeing that. I would rebuild the calipers. It's not that expensive. Good excuse to put stainless pistons in too.

I'm not totally convinced anything is sticking. When I swapped the pads for new ones, all four where worn to the almost the exact same thickness.

I might look at upgrading the brakes this year anyway. The AP Racing six pots look inviting.

You could probably use more brakes with the extra power.

Looks like your still on stock oil cooler correct? I have setrab oil cooler and on 85 deg days lapping for 20-25 minutes oil temp never go above 250-255 temp. what oil are you using? Ive also mounted my oil cooler up front away from passenger tire and made a ducts to direct air flow to cooler.

Nope, it's a MAP kit with a Setrab cooler. Valvoline VR1 20w-50 oil and I run a little over 6 quarts in the engine (MAP Pan).

Remember I am also pushing almost double the power as yours.

My oil temps don't hit 270 until the very end of my session after seven hard laps, you can see here: https://datazap.me/u/razorlab/thunde...log=0&data=3-9

I also have my oil sensor in the oil pan. Where is yours? When I had my temp sensor at the filter housing it read about 20f cooler.

I had to do something about the GoPro wind noise from my track videos so I went out and bought some mics and a dual channel splitter for my GoPro.

I'm testing out having one mic behind the dash to get engine/intake noises (might move it closer to engine) and one mic in the trunk to get the exhaust noise.

One problem I ran into is when I put the mic in the trunk there is a bunch of static from that mic only. I think it might be getting interference from the surge tank/pump controller setup. It's more apparent at idle and kind of goes away at full throttle.

Either way, my test today was a success for getting rid of wind noise at least. It was super windy out today and the mics didn't pick up any of it. GoPro footage is way better now.

Here is footage with both mics:

And here is footage with ONLY the mic behind the dash:

Question for curiosity sake:

pulling on straights on Viper’s GT3’s Z06’s,

do you see that they are on throttle full on winding out decent drivers, and yet Evo/you pull ahead on acceleration?

Z06 is 2006+ C6 or later/current C7 ?

996 Or 997 or 991 GT3?

FYI: FFTec had 991.1 GT3 in dyno Friday, track-only-car, fully open exhaust/uncorked, made 406whp on Pump.
I seem to remember a 997.1 GT3 making 340whp at FFTec.
and have seen 996 GT3 make 315whp at FFTec.

C6 Z06 (505hp)
Z28 (505hp)
991 GT3 (500hp)

All where most def going full bore, the Z28 was an instructor and we where all in Advanced group. As you know, the C6 Z06 platform is very capable in the right hands. Those are the guys I always end up sparing with the most on track when driven well.

Viper was the most powerful but I don't think he was peddeling it like the others since on paper it doesn't make sense that my evo on it's track tune of mid 500's would pull on a 640hp viper.

There was also a C7 Z06 there but he wasn't going very fast, in fact probably should not have been in the advanced group.

I still have a good amount of speed and time to get back in the corners after being away for two years and coming back with a much more powerful car. I'm about 10mph off my normal pace in the fast corners.

Attended another track day yesterday. Was great over all. I'll write up a more detailed post with video once I recover from being away from work for two days.

It was a warmer day and MAT was 40-50F higher than IAT at some points so it really is time for me to throw this AGP FMIC in the bay and get one better suited for lapping.

Here is one full session with Speed, IAT, MAT, Oil Temp plotted. Ambient temp was approx 85*F: https://datazap.me/u/razorlab/thunde...2&zoom=0-29221

Also had an odd loss of power once in the straight at 120mph, I thought I lost a spark plug again and was preparing for the worst but all spark plugs checked out and car ran fine after that and can't find anything in the logs yet so *shrug*

Alright, track day number three with the new build. I never really thought tracking a 500whp+ Evo 10 would be that challenging but I was wrong. I'm still getting used to this beast but dropping time every event even though the car keeps scaring the crap out of me. Went three seconds faster this event and got my personal best of 2:03 over the top at Thunderhill. This theoretically would be a 2:00-1:59 with the more popular bypass config at this track, which is my goal with this car, (and a VERY fast time for a street car) but I won't know for sure until I get to run that config again.

This day was about 10-15* warmer than last event and my oil temps hit a max of 277 which I guess means me cutting out more vents in the fender liner helped? I think I am finally going to loose my fog lights so I can get more airflow through the front, which is a bummer because I really wanted to keep them but hey... track life right? ;P

Here is a video of me catching up to and playing with a very well sorted race spec lotus. Fast driver, wicked car. At about 1:52 in turn 8, which is a very fast corner, at about 100 mph the car starts sliding and retains grip right at the edge of the run out which was a bit of a pucker moment for me. It's one of the more dangerous corners on this track so I always treat it with respect but I am pushing the car more now. It doesn't look very dramatic in the video but it rarely does. You can hear me be a bit verbal right after that.

Oh the new dual gopro mic setup worked really well too. Yay.

Badass man. Are you still thinking about a brake upgrade? Or maybe just try some 2-piece rotors and ducting?

Deleting the fogs will certainly help with airflow to the oil cooler, but if that doesn't get oil below 250, I would consider a larger and relocated cooler.

Yea, my brakes where not happy. This event had super light attendance, 55 cars total! So, they only had two groups and we where running every 30 minutes. I tried that the first couple times and found the car didn't have enough time to cool down between sessions and my brakes where not happy, so I tried skipping every other session and it was way better.

The calipers are super sad now:
