Daveevo91's 668AWHP Evo X MR SST built by Moore Automotive with HELP from Kozmic

First, I must pay my respects and thank yous to a bunch of people/places. This car was a collective effort, and a 100+ man hour project.

The first, Moore Automotive who did ALL the work on the car. Mainly Chris and Dave at the shop there. They are absolutely first rate, and they have earned my business for life. Chris is a "silent genius", as he doesn't post all of his opinions and thoughts here. Make no mistake, he's brilliant. Dave is an excellent tech there as well, and John is also very knowledgeable. All the guys there are awesome. They do extremely quality work, and best of all, stand behind it. This is EXTREMELY rare to find. Extremely. I purchased all my fuel system parts from here, and a lot of the motor-building parts here too. These boys get a perfect 10/10.

Second, Kozmic Motorsports. Mainly Eric, and Dave was also help too. Eric is THE AUTHORITY on the SST. He has mad MORE time than anyone else with it. He has tried nearly every combination of everything on the SST and has put his blood, sweat, and tears in it. NONE of this would've been possible without Eric helping us get the transmission figured out. There were so many questions that Eric helped us with. I literally spent two hours on a SUNDAY on the phone with this guy. He was that kind to help me. I owe him a ton. If I ever meet this guy, he's getting a 5-star steak dinner and unlimited booze. He ended up setting up a dealer account with Chris at Moore once they started talking. I love this place.

Also, SSP for the clutch packs, seals, pan, and help as well. Kris helped Chris (lol) whenever he could and also provided an extra seal with overnight delivery when one failed. That's excellent customer service. Would purchase again from them.

Also assorted members who I purchased stuff from to help with the build.

Okay, so onto the good stuff.

The Story

I bought a 2013 Evo X MR brand new last winter. It was fully loaded, except for Nav. I was so excited.

I loved the car, for about a month. I started finding some performance flaws, and had to fix them. The dropping off of power past like 4500RPM, the wallowey handling, and the overall "sluggish" feeling of the car. I come from a 730RWHP Coyote (which I still own), and a 460WHP Civic Si.

So, it was time to mod. I did all my research as I usually do and ended up with an intake, and a catback at first.

At the same time I called Ivey for a tune. They told me they could tune my 13 MR that just had an intake and exhaust. Awesome! It was over 4 hours from me, so I decided to make an appointment there, and I got a hotel room for the night before.

I got there, and after a full hour, one of the techs comes out and says Sean can't tune my car. He hasn't tuned a 13 MR as of yet. Huh? Sean himself doesn't even come out, and instead sends his tech? How unprofessional. I made it clear to them it was a 2013. They knew I was coming from far out of town. The best part? Not even an offered discount or free tune if I came back. Just a sorry, see ya later. Lost my business completely. Even when I buy a GTR.

So anyways, Chris @ Moore sees my story and contacts me immediately saying he can tune the car. I set up an appointment for one week later and drive 5.5 hours to northern VA on a whim.

So glad I did. The shop was friendly, professional, and clean. Chris tuned the car to perfection and answered EVERY question I had. I cannot say enough good stuff about this guy.

Flash forward a year, and I contact him again about more power. Ended up with full bolt ons, a manifold, an MHI, and ID1000 injectors. Only made 389AWHP or something. It was fast, but not enough for me. Also, my stock clutches started letting go on the trip home.

Flash forward again, and I end up with this on the build list -

Engine -

Stock Block
Stock Crank
Wiseco 9:1 pistons
Manley Rods
ARP Headstuds
Cosworth Head Gasket
GSC S2 Cams
Springs/Retainers

Transmission -

SSP 600hp Clutch packs
SSP Deep Pan cooler (to keep the case from flexing)
Viton Seals
Labor for the trans to be taken out a total of 12 or 13 times LOL

Fuel -

FIC2150s
Walbro 450
External hanger
FPR
AMS Fuel Rail
Bunch of other random shiiitee
E85

Induction -

AMS900XP turbo kit
Open Dump fabbed by Dave @ Moore
Full catless ETS exhaust
AMS Intercooler

Suspension -

AST 5100 Coilovers
Whiteline Front Sway Bar w/ Endlinks
Perron Rear Sway Bar w/ Endlinks
Whiteline RCK
Dunlop 245/40/18 Z2 tires
One or two other things I cant think of

Exterior -

APR Front Carbon Splitter
JDMFanatics front and rear red Mitsubishi Vinyl coverings
Rexpeed Rear Carbon Fiber Ducktail spoiler
Option Labs S401 18x9.5 +22 wheels
WAITING FOR MY VOLKS!!!
Other stuff

So,

with all that stuff in we had some issues.

A warning to ANYONE attempting a high horsepower MR:

You WILL have unforseen issues and it will cost more than what you think. That's all.

So, anyways, we had issues where the seals wouldn't sit, clutches wouldn't sit, even clutches slipping, odd clutches slipping, wouldn't go in gear, etc, etc. Chris and Dave spent a lot of 10-11PM nights at the shop, and the trans came out a dozen times. It was a massive headache, but worth it in the end. (to me anyways lol).

So, Chris gained the experience and knowledge necessary to create a high hp MR. Eric looked over his trans map and it looked great. Perfect.

All went well, and the car was tuned. It made a SAFE 668AWHP, and like 450 foot pounds. The pull before made more, but it was a bit too lean for Chris' liking.

Anyways, here's a bunch of pics and vids to satisfy you guys
