You should take this opportunity while its all apart to install extra sound insulation in the interior. An extra layer or two of dynamat, or similar, on the floor, the whole firewall, the roof, and inside the doors will go a long way...

Love sunroofs myself.

Question, if by chance I come across a wrecked black car (same color as mine) can the roof be transplanted onto my car without having to repaint?

do you have any pics of the doner car? how much do you anticipate this entire project costing? You've made some great progress so far. I'm excited to see the end result.

Absolutely if you are very careful. The roof skin is welded and glued on.

You would have to drill out the welds, then very slowly pry off the skin from the body. Being the weld spots are on the very edge and there is a strip that goes on the top (which I forgot to mention to remove) this will cover where you would re-tack the new/used roof skin. I had one done on a g8 gt burn where the roof actually warped a little and it did not get repainted.

It is tedious but by all means not impossible. Also fyi you will need to drill small holes in bottom of car for the drain tubes to empty water.

I have 2 pics of the donor car I believe but will have to hunt them down lol. The shop is actually doing the work on the side for me and we stripped the parts car first then scrapped what was left (was not much at all) because they are strapped for space and did not want my junk tying up their shop. I will post it up before days end.

Pm me for cost, also we are still on the clock so I won't have concrete numbers until it is finished. I am definitely in the clear on this one but being we are paying close attention to detail it's not a dirt cheap build.

Congrats! You have the patience of a Saint! Great work so far! As you build her, will you be keeping her stock, or, doing ANY mods along the way? Thanks for saving her! Subscribed.

About 95% done. Waiting on the rear spoiler to be painted and installed, waiting on front bumper cover to dry and.get installed. Windshield guy just showed up as we speak. Motor started right up and sounds amazing!
