Most parts are the same except for rear doors, tailgate, tail lights, rear bumper bar, roof, rear seat and some of the floor parts after the rear diff. Everything else is Evo 9 sedan which is awesome.

Update 29 April

I bought a new e85 Raceworks fuel pump on Friday to be my new lift pump. Yesterday I pulled the fuel pump out of the tank expecting to find a DW pump that my previous tuner said he installed... only to find it was a WALBRO GSS342. So then I just tidied up the wiring and put it back in. Oh well, at least I can put it out of my mind now. FFS.

Most cars have a band of colour, in the glass, on the top edge of the windscreen. But my JDM all clear windscreen doesn't. I also hated the very light grey plastic trim on the A-Pillars, the white sun visors and matching headliner. This car needs to be black. All Black Damn it!

This is before:

First step, remove the a-pillar trims and rub down with Prepsol to remove any silicon. Then I rubbed down with grey scotchbrite and metho (as an antistatic prep).

Then I used Transtar trim paint. This stuff is awesome. Primer and colour aka 2 in 1. Very light coats applied at first, gradualy getting a bit heavier. I did about 6-8 coats with about 2 minutes in between. The finish turned out great. I might do the sun visors and B-Pillars next.

While the A-Pillar trim was out it gave me a bit more room to do a windscreen banner tint. I hadn't done this before but I got a few tips from my local Solartint dude and 1300mm roll of 5% tint. I borrowed a mate's felt lined squeegees and bought a new Scotch brand box cutter with Titanium blades.

Evo IX GT Wagon. a JDM car in Australia-ahpxsr8.jpg

Remove rear vision mirror. Then you cut out the shape in the tint from the outside of the car after spraying the window with soapy water. You need to make the tint around 5-6mm larger than the matrix pattern on the windscreen to make sure there are no sunlight gaps once the tint is in position on the inside of the windscreen. I also need to cutout a little hole in the centre for the rear vision mirror mount square
TIP: Some glass can scratch easy so you can use a small piece of plastic under the blade's tip to protect from scratching. I just used a little piece of ziptie.
Watch some youtube videos first!

TIP: Park the car in sun and as it dries, regularly press your finger down on the matrix dots to help the tint stick to the glass between them. Don't rub your finger across the tint, just use a pressing motion.

and replaced the A-Pillar trim. Much better:

And my final job for this weekend was to install some Rexpeed Carbon Fibre nitrogen filled bonnet dampers. They work really well and look amaze

Yep, just made a mess. Absolutely love the work you did over the weekend. I foresee black A-Pillar Trim in my very near future...

June 5th updates

Thanks @sp00lin4G63

In preparation for last Wednesday's Dyno fault finding and tuning I added some heat protection to the valve cover and cam angle sensor. I designed a heat shield to be mounted to the engine lift hook bolt hole and the hole above the cam angle sensor but when I found out AT Performance made a heat shield that was attached at these two points I decided to support AT Performance and save myself a lot of time.

I took the raw heat shields out to Joey at Capital Precision Coating to get the "Cerakote" ceramic coating to match my exhaust manifold.

But when I got to the tuner he had unfinished tunes to do so I made an appointment for the follow Wednesday to try again. Disappointed.

But in the mean time I have a few other things to do to the wagon.

Firstly to stiffen up the wagon chassis a bit more with Beatrush parts. Beautiful quality.

Beatrush front wagon bar

Pretty quick easy install, its very light and it is a snug fit.

To stiffen up the rear of the wagon a bit more and keeping with the Beatrush theme… a new rear strut brace

Evo IX GT Wagon. a JDM car in Australia-hfh2kc4.jpg

It takes a while to remove enough interior trim to install this brace and you need to do a trial fit with the centre bar in too, so you can tighten down the end plates in the exact position. But once down I torqued it down to 44Nm.

and finally the two bars together.

I really hate Mitsubishi for not selling this car in the US. I'd love the practicality of a wagon...

Mighty Car Mods Meet

I went to a Mighty Car Mods Meet last Sunday. I took an iPhone pic while waiting for the gates to open. Cold Foggy morning.

Haha yeah it does look clean. Cause I just washed it before the show

Anyway took the wagon to my tuna again today. They still can't get stable AFR at idle let alone under load. Had "Tuning Fork" on the phone and sent logs to him. He said injectors too large. Hmmm new genuine ID 1700cc Injectors (Nov 2016), brand new Haltech Elite 2500 ECU and the injectors are too big for the Elite ECU to be able to control them??? . We didn't have these problems tuning these injectors with my old Haltech Platinum Pro ECU. Shouldn't the new ECU have even better injector drivers? I can't go smaller injectors as this will be a flex tune that will mostly be running on e85. Are my few month old Bosch 044 twin fuel pumps and Fuel Lab FPR providing too much fuel? Sigh... Haltech Scott & my tuner are gonna try again together next Tuesday. Has anyone else had issues with tuning an e9 with similar setup ie 2.3L, Haltech elite, ID1700cc, GTpumps 762, e85 flex fuel tune. Or are my injectors still too big?

But at least the car still looks good. (Later today at my mate's workshop)

I am sure Haltech must have that low pulse width adder table that allows injectors to be tuned in non linear region. In stock Ecu we use min ipw patch to make them idle around stoich.

One of the best builds I've ever seen.

Couple questions:
Why the silicon intake? (I've seen them collapse under boost loading)
Also, have you thought about swapping the worm gear clamps with t bolt clamps?

Can't wait to see more
