So I’ve done some reading and saw some some say yay and some say no, but I’ll ask you all on here.
Is it necessary to loosen the head studs then torque them again to achieve proper stretch? Their brand new out of the box head studs. Thanks in advance..

For the ARP head studs, torque them in three equal steps to their specified torque using molylube (usually between 80 to 100 ft lbs depending on what it says on the paper). No need to loosen and retorque. I don't know about the OEM headstuds though.

ok great thanks, I snugged them in order then did 30/50/80 as I mentioned before. I just saw ppl comment on other pages about loosening them up then torque them again. Thanks for clarifying

Got the rear main seal on and used Three bond and just torqued the bolts down to spec. Forgot to take pic with gasket stuff on etc.

Great thread.

I'm glad to see that new shortblocks are still available. I'm tempted to just buy another OEM shortblock while we still can. My stock shortblock has worked well for 90K but I know it won't last forever.

I don’t blame you Huzzle we don’t have one reliable shop that works on evo’s in south Florida. They either jumped ship to another platform chasing money or their a hole in the wall shop. Only option for us is out of state lol.

its bad here too, there’s some local shops but every time someone takes it on a joy ride or something comes back broken and not mentioned etc. CBRD is about 1.5hrs is has always been a great shop to me.
