Engine bay when I first got it

After some cleaning up and custom digi camo painting by myself

http://i1172.photobucket.com/albums/...O/DSC_3223.jpg
How the car sat last year

http://i1172.photobucket.com/albums/...ps6d8eb5fa.jpg
No the work begins, everything being removed that I not needed

http://i1172.photobucket.com/albums/...psdde6b9a9.jpg
Yea removing lots of stuff, ditching the factory radiator support

http://i1172.photobucket.com/albums/...psd2c415db.jpg
Interior ripped apart too. Completely removed the ac system as well as doing the wire tuck

http://i1172.photobucket.com/albums/...ps97877084.jpg
Pugged the egr port on the head with a 1/8npt stainless plug

http://i1172.photobucket.com/albums/...ps7b338cc3.jpg
Went through a lot of wires, everything will be tucked as well as relocated

http://i1172.photobucket.com/albums/...ps7036bfe8.jpg
New goodies came in, Supertech duals and titanium retaners

http://i1172.photobucket.com/albums/...psce36a91a.jpg
As well as the GSC S3 have heard great things about these cams

http://i1172.photobucket.com/albums/...ps00ddac8b.jpg
Supertech vs stock pretty big difference here

http://i1172.photobucket.com/albums/...ps181cbda9.jpg
Head all done. Cams, valvesprings, and retainers installed

http://i1172.photobucket.com/albums/...psf8f231f5.jpg
I chopped the frame 7" back for clearance and to reduce some weight

http://i1172.photobucket.com/albums/...psd13791a2.jpg
Stock 8 turbo vs PTE 6266

http://i1172.photobucket.com/albums/...ps714aa265.jpg
Regular 6266 isn't cutting it for me, looks way to plain

http://i1172.photobucket.com/albums/...ps9570a79a.jpg
And after a lot of sanding and polishing m happy with how it came out.

http://i1172.photobucket.com/albums/...psf5bf1811.jpg
Stock intake manifold looks horrible but performs so well so I decided to dress it up. Everything was shaved on it, and the freeze pg on th end was removed and welded an aluminum plate on the end to smooth it out, also I tapped it for 1/8npt to make fitting easy to install and swap out.

http://i1172.photobucket.com/albums/...ps8332c849.jpg
I did a full port and polish on it. I went all the way back on the runners right into the plenum, and smothed out the throttle body opening as well

http://i1172.photobucket.com/albums/...pse41e777c.jpg
After metallic powder coat with clear, FIC 2150, and FIC rail

http://i1172.photobucket.com/albums/...ps23222823.jpg
Buschur double pumper

http://i1172.photobucket.com/albums/...ps23b5438d.jpg
Stock feed vs my 3/8 stainless feed line

http://i1172.photobucket.com/albums/...ps02cab3cf.jpg
Koyo 1/2 radiator and I welded on -16an fittings top and bottom

http://i1172.photobucket.com/albums/...ps4ae78659.jpg
Radiator installed with -16an lines, also polished up the thermostat housing a little and installed mishimoto low temp thermostat

http://i1172.photobucket.com/albums/...ps1dd55811.jpg
Made a custom catch can utilizing two -10an and two -6an fittings

http://i1172.photobucket.com/albums/...psf95f6775.jpg
sanded down and painted stock engine mounts

http://i1172.photobucket.com/albums/...psb8601fcf.jpg
My first merge collector. Its an 11.5degreee so its super high flow as well as fully ported and polished

http://i1172.photobucket.com/albums/...ps9d716a40.jpg

http://i1172.photobucket.com/albums/...ps104c7b6a.jpg
First runner made

http://i1172.photobucket.com/albums/...ps411311bd.jpg

http://i1172.photobucket.com/albums/...pse252819a.jpg

http://i1172.photobucket.com/albums/...ps8bab4471.jpg

http://i1172.photobucket.com/albums/...psc667894f.jpg
Manifold all tacked up

http://i1172.photobucket.com/albums/...ps8bab4471.jpg

http://i1172.photobucket.com/albums/...ps66dfcb69.jpg
All welded up and looks pretty good

http://i1172.photobucket.com/albums/...ps10057631.jpg
Head flange welded up used with a torque plate to eliminate chances of warping. The manifold was also fully back purged for really strong and clean welds.

http://i1172.photobucket.com/albums/...ps393c7e9c.jpg
Now that the manifold is done I got to work on the front end. I made it out of 1-5/8" chromoly tubing and 1/2" chromoly tubing. Stronger and lighter than stock and is also way cleaner.

http://i1172.photobucket.com/albums/...ps249c931b.jpg
Me doing some welding

http://i1172.photobucket.com/albums/...psc61e0a91.jpg
Wastegate dump welded and polished up

http://i1172.photobucket.com/albums/...ps6523537f.jpg

http://i1172.photobucket.com/albums/...psac6c86dc.jpg
Made a 3"mandrel v-band downpipe

http://i1172.photobucket.com/albums/...psbc58c797.jpg

http://i1172.photobucket.com/albums/...ps7f26befe.jpg
Lots of frustrating wiring to do

http://i1172.photobucket.com/albums/...psa9250bd7.jpg
Intake manifold and valve cover powder coated

http://i1172.photobucket.com/albums/...psdc8525eb.jpg
More goodies, blue Tial MVR and Garrett 4-1/2x12x24 intercooler core

http://i1172.photobucket.com/albums/...ps6ac5a482.jpg
Finished the intercooler up, made custom end tanks and its a backdoor style so it basically eliminates the nee for a licp as its part of the intercooler. Had to polish it while I was at it

http://i1172.photobucket.com/albums/...ps432bb05f.jpg
Intercooler installed

http://i1172.photobucket.com/albums/...psbcddb879.jpg
UICP finished up all in one piece and installed blue TIAL Q

http://i1172.photobucket.com/albums/...ps50ea0855.jpg
All parts pretty much fabricated so its time to start shaving and painting. All the brackets and extra holes in the bay were cut off and welded shut to make everything very smooth

http://i1172.photobucket.com/albums/...psb1e5fb9e.jpg

http://i1172.photobucket.com/albums/...psa25ecf57.jpg
All primed and sanded

http://i1172.photobucket.com/albums/...ps2f97d2dd.jpg
Now a bay better than factory

http://i1172.photobucket.com/albums/...psc643a57f.jpg

http://i1172.photobucket.com/albums/...ps9735b3ff.jpg

http://i1172.photobucket.com/albums/...ps6a0ace2d.jpg
Now I can start putting everything back together. EVO RS master cylinder and custom copper nickel brake lines installed. Relocated the power steering reservoir and deleted the steering cooler

http://i1172.photobucket.com/albums/...pse19f3fb1.jpg
Manifold on and looking good

http://i1172.photobucket.com/albums/...ps5825e544.jpg
Had the catch can powder coated wet black to match and finished up the lines

http://i1172.photobucket.com/albums/...psb813fcbd.jpg
Also made the coolant overflow and was also coated wet black

http://i1172.photobucket.com/albums/...ps92f05683.jpg

http://i1172.photobucket.com/albums/...ps70c1a546.jpg
Fusebox relocated into the glovebox

http://i1172.photobucket.com/albums/...ps63fbbbee.jpg

http://i1172.photobucket.com/albums/...ps82421bf3.jpg

http://i1172.photobucket.com/albums/...psed573376.jpg

http://i1172.photobucket.com/albums/...psaf980823.jpg

http://i1172.photobucket.com/albums/...ps9424d868.jpg

http://i1172.photobucket.com/albums/...psb00eced9.jpg
Repainted all the grills on the car also makes it look way better

WOW that is i have to say! Im going to throw this out there. Ive seen alot of builds on here never seen anyone do all fabing and putting together. Your very talented and very jealous of your skills!

dtrackstar Aug 1, 2013 08:12 PM

Well done! Nice welds too. How did you decide to design the FF mani?

fouringEVO Aug 1, 2013 08:15 PM

Well I always wanted a top mount kit because I like the long runner design but also wanted a ff manifold. So I just put the two together and started playing around with a couple different designs that would make it pretty much as close to equal length as I could get and also make it easy to work on. I can take my turbo off in only a couple minutes

tsidrift1 Aug 1, 2013 08:22 PM

Tom sent me a pic of it in aim, WOW man. Great job with everything. Car looks so damn good. IM not a fan of the bby color honestly, but yours looks amazing!!

I just dont know where guys get the patience to mess with the wiring lol. Thats what holds me back from doing anything like that. haha

Svendiesel Aug 1, 2013 09:43 PM

Definitely one of the nicest and most intricate builds Ive seen in a while. I love all of the subtle stuff that was done too. I wish I knew how to fab and rewire everything haha. Congrats and good luck with it.

tscompusa Aug 2, 2013 01:50 AM

by far the best engine bay i've seen yet on a evo. and i'm super happy i had the honor to tune the car! Branden does incredible work.

The only other engine bay i seen like this is Streetthisevo's.

AngryEvo8 Aug 2, 2013 05:35 AM

Great looking car tastefully done! Painting the bays on evos really adds to the car.

06MREvo Aug 2, 2013 05:45 AM

Glad to finally see a build thread for this car. Definitely a very interesting manifold setup! I really like what you did with the intake manifold, I plan on doing the same to mine...hopefully this winter. Engine bay is very clean, great job sir. Do you plan on running the car before or at the Shootout? I am definitely interested in the results.

Lancerboy89 Aug 2, 2013 06:28 AM

Wow, great work , and that is a clean looking engine bay, also like the nice touchs of the wire tuck and the lower being built into the intercooler.

antilag_200 Aug 2, 2013 07:55 AM

Well done sir, I enjoyed that thoroughly.

V8HAHA Aug 2, 2013 08:01 AM

Very nice and I can appreciateall the work you have done after watching my builder the exact same buld excpet standard top mount.I myself have loved the look of the top mount and FF tossed between the two but did I think of a topmount FF. I also run a 6266 with S3 cams but mine is a built 2.0LR and a CNC ported race head. Tom done a great jonb on your tune my hats off to both of you guys. Here is a few pics of my manifold.
