Chad's Boostin Performance Built and Tuned 06 EVO MR
The DSM platform made Chad a die-hard 4g63 fan, so when the time came for finding a new car, the EVO was at the top of the list. This beautiful 06 MR caught his eye because it was stock, except for a cat-back, so it provided a clean slate to work with. After driving it for a year, the modification bug bit him, so he began to look into horsepower upgrades. During an inspection of the car and after performing a leak down test, Chad noticed that the numbers weren't where he wanted them to be. So Chad took advantage of the opportunity in front of him, and decided it was time to build the Evo he always dreamed of!
After searching around for some shops to take his EVO, he decided to go with Boostin after seeing the many powerful, and daily driven EVOs that have come through the shop over the years. Since his ultimate goal for the car is a powerful daily driver that can tear up the track on weekends, he drove all the way from Denver for some Boostin' TLC! Looking for that nice balance of power and reliability, Chad's build centers around our proven Boostin Performance Stage 3 High Compression 2.0L Long Rod short block, complimented with Forced Performance's new Zephyr turbocharger. In addition to the BP Short Block, we are giving Chad's EVO the full super-star treatment with the following upgrades: Boostin Performance High Compression Stage 3 2.0L LR Boostin Performance Stage 2 Cylinder Head Package with GSC S2 Cams Boostin Performance EVO Ported intake manifold Boostin Performance Oil Cooler Kit Forced Performance Zephyr Turbocharger Extreme Turbo System 3.5” FMIC and Full Piping Kit Injector Dynamics 2000 injectors and Walbro 450cc Fuel Pump Boostin Performance Speed Density Intake SparkTech Non-CDI COP Quarter Master 8-leg Twin Disc Boostin Performance Transmission Rebuild ECU Speed Density Dual Map Tune (91 and 100 Octane) Here are some in-progress photos of Chad's build. It is coming together nicely! |
Looks great! Keep it up.

Cool write up. QM 8-Leg, hunh?? I've debated going back to a triple like the ATS or trying OS Giken out but the cost of the twin makes it difficult to justify.
Good luck. Hope its everything you wished for. |
This thing is sweet!!!!
|
Looking great. Hope he likes the QM Clutch driving in chi town traffic.
|
Thanks all. Yea I can't wait to drive it again.
I hope the qm does well. I was advised to get the super heavy flywheel to help with driveability. So we shall see. |
It looks like the stock exhaust manifold is being used instead of the one from FP. Was there a reason for this?
|
I actually was not planning on the turbo upgrade at first. So I decided to stick with the stock exhaust manifold and have boostin port it and also port match the fp zephyr.
In the future after I get the t-case and rear end built I will still have upgrades I can do to pull more power out of it including the exhaust manifold, double pumper for e85, and a test pipe. The car will be running on a boostin built high flow cat and also keep the rear o2 active so I have no issues right now with emissions. |
The QM is a great clutch but it's super grabby. You'll feel like a newb driving it for the first few months. But it will hold the power and take a great beating.
|
Dude, the car will be totally different when you get it back. From basically stock to this is crazy. I am jealous:lol:
|
Luckily I don't have to deal to much with intense traffic but, I have a feeling I will kill the car a few times lol!
