Stephen's Evo8 Build
Hey everyone. Have had my Evo about 2 years now and figured it was time to start a thread.
To start off this car was previously on here with its original build but has since returned to mostly stock YEARS after this thread and now in my possession. https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/project-cars-build-threads/661356-j-s-goforbroke-build-ccw-6466-ff-built.html ^^^^^ original thread from previous owners build. https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.evo...c479188ef4.jpg For starters I purchased the car with a Buschur Stage 1 transmission, SHEP T-Case, Wilwood front brake kit, CC stage 2 clutch, Enkei RPF1, JDM Evo 9 headlights, Evo 7 taillights, JDM Evo 9 rear bumper, 3" turboback (pieced together no-name) Hallman MBC and a drop in filter. Meant to keep this car as-is as a commuter but couldnt help myself. Now on to the off season and parts build-up. https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.evo...274d5b7fc1.jpg https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.evo...c98c9572c2.jpg Car was due for a timing belt service and I like the color purple so HKS was my belt of choice for timing and balance shaft accompanied by OEM Tensioners and Idler Pulley. https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.evo...b316da2247.jpg Had to match the purple belts with some adjustable cam gears. https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.evo...db7df0f71d.jpg https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.evo...79a073601d.jpg https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.evo...21b41f01a2.jpg GSC s2 camshafts, Beehive springs w/titanium retainers and standard ARP headstuds acquired along with complete OEM gasket set (not pictured). https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.evo...fdb12bc4cf.jpg https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.evo...e6a2176d6b.jpg https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.evo...2cc43efd29.jpg The beginning of engine bay tear down and to help show a before and after with the work being done. https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.evo...4dde6ed81f.jpg https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.evo...1e11f72f1e.jpg Cylinder head came back from machine shop (no extreme work or porting) and Kiggly HLA has arrived. https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.evo...0cd893ed05.jpg Ortiz Custom Pods radio bezel triple pod arrived for AEM-X series gauges (wideband, boost, oil pressure) https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.evo...103c9950a9.jpg https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.evo...9c88546099.jpg Valve cover was powdercoated by Blast Coatings and just about all parts ready to be installed. https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.evo...562cfc526a.jpg https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.evo...63d51829d3.jpg Engine timed and sheepey built FMIC installed. After all this work I took my time and started learning how to tune via ECUflash. Very slow start @12psi I believe it showed around 189whp on the VD. After figuring out a good tuning method that I was confident with and showed good results the car put down 330/311 on the stock 8 turbo with pump 93 octane. After a year, that was not nearly enough. https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.evo...e7d9d59787.jpg Black Friday special I did not want to pass up! Sheepey Built top mount v-band hot parts kit. https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.evo...1dc0d1f6fb.jpg I have a great girlfriend! Happy birthday to me with the turbo I've been wanting to try for quite some time! Precision 6266 with my goal of reaching 500whp on stock block while still utilizing pump 93. https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.evo...5d1d1b2aa7.jpg Turbosmart 44mm hypergate to go with the Sheepey Built hot-parts kit. https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.evo...7dc12ab4a1.jpg At the 27th DSM Shootout 2019 I couldnt pass up the awesome deal at the Magnus booth. Had to grab the V5 intake, rail and TB adapter. What a beauty, always wanted one of these! https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.evo...0a7a1b91c0.jpg Sent out my intake and compressor cover to my friend Jack at Jack's Motors in PA (I bought the car from him as well). He knocked this coating job out of the park!! https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.evo...face74f2e9.jpg The FIC 1000cc currently in the car wont support what I want with the car in the end so to ensure proper fueling I'm going to try the FIC 2150cc injectors and see how well they work. If streetability is an issue a step-down to 1650cc may be needed but for now these should do! |
Hey I purchased the same turbo hot parts kit and unfortunately the wastegate dumptube welds came undone at the wastegate flange and I lost the dumptube while driving, is the dumptube on yours bottom dump? Or top dump? Do you know about how long the dumptube is? I need a bottom facing dumptube re-made, thanks!
