2005 Mitsubishi Evolution MR - Built Engine with 6K miles, warranty, $18k

Up for sale is my 2005 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution MR in Graphite Grey.
High resolution image album: HERE. Please read the captions. This album includes interior pictures, engine build pictures, and all possible angles.
Asking price is $24k.
PRICE DROP: ASKING $21K
HUGE PRICE DROP: ASKING $18K firm.

Milage on car is 156k and change.
CAR IS SOLD. Person who bought it got a steal.
Milage on built engine and pretty much everything else has been replaced - ~4.5k miles.
Located in the San Francisco Bay Area.

The car was an original owner car, before I purchased it. The original owner was a middle aged woman, who received the car from her father as a wedding gift. Her husband was Law Enforcement, so the car was definitely not modified or raced about during their ownership. Car has never been in an accident.

The engine quickly developed a head gasket failure (I suspect it was already failing) after purchasing it.
Rather than just a simple head gasket job, I elected to do a full engine rebuild if the engine was coming out anyway.

The job was done at VL Motorsports by their expert engine builder, Anthony, and machine work done at Tech Machine Shop, both in Livermore. Receipts along with build clearances and data about the engine measurements are available.
Attention to detail was extreme. The build was centered around OEM+, increasing drivability and response rather than making big power. The modifications reflect that. My goal was to build what the Evo should have been from the factory. Nearly everything was replaced with either new aftermarket and OEM parts.
All parts listed were purchased BRAND NEW.
ONLY 4.5K MILES ON THE ENTIRE BUILD.

EVERY gasket was replaced, EVERY bolt was torqued to spec, from the valve cover to the oil pan. All the paint marks you see on bolts in the engine building photos mean the bolt was torqued to factory spec. All tolerances measured meticulously. This is a seriously high end engine build.

The engine is UNDER WARRANTY by VL Motorsports, and they will honor it for 10k miles and or 1 year of use, whichever comes first. Warranty void if there is evidence of abuse.

Engine was properly broken in with AMSOIL break in oil. Has been running on nothing but AMSOIL and AMSOIL filters since.

Bottom End:
The block was decked, bored, honed, and hot tanked. The full rotating assembly (crank, rods, pistons, etc) were balanced.
Balance shafts retained.
-OEM crank
-Clevite Bearings
-Manley H-Tuff Rods (can hold tons of power, while still being lighter than stock), with ARP rod bolts
-Mahle Power Pak Pistons 9:1 CR (made of 4032 forged alloy for longevity purposes [ring sealing] over a typical 2618 alloy forged piston)
-ARP main studs
-ARP head studs

Cylinder Head was built and assembled by Curt Brown.
-GSC S1 Cams (big boost in low end and mid range torque with zero loss of top end, great smooth idle.)
-Supertech dual valve springs
-Supertech Valves (Stock size)
-GSC Zero Tick Lifters
-Supertech Valve Guides
-Supertech Valve Stems
-Intake and exhaust ports gasket matched and to the manifolds as well.
-AEM Adjustable Cam Gears
-Spoolin' Up Coil on plug kit with carbon fiber panel

-EVERY gasket replaced in the engine/powertrain with OEM Mitusbishi gaskets from the throttle body down to the oil pan.
-NEW OEM Water Pump, Gates Racing Timing Belt with OEM tensioners and pulley's.
-NEW OEM Oil Pump
-NEW OEM Engine Mounts

-Forced Performance 71HTA Turbocharger with the 68mm Anti-Surge Cover, Mated to Evo 8.5/9 Hotside
-Forced Performance Cast Race Manifold (Fits under stock heatshield, looks like a stock manifold but with better flowing runners), ported to match ports on cylinder head/gasket. Includes stronger turbo studs made by Forced Performance
-ARP Exhaust manifold studs
-Works O2 Housing
-Works 3" downpipe, wrapped with DEI Titanium Heat Wrap
-Megan Resonated Test Pipe
-HKS Hi-Power 3" cat back exhaust

-Intake manifold ported to match cylinder head ports/gasket.
-Works ported throttle body
-ETS Upper and Lower Intercooler Piping, Stock Route
-Tial Q Blow of Valve

-Ohlins Road and Track Coilovers, standard spring rates.
-Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires, less than 2k miles.
-OEM MR BBS Wheels
-Cleaned underside of chassis thoroughly, then applied a fresh coat of top quality rubberized undercoating. Great for defending against rust/damage when going to the snow.

-ACT Streetlite Flywheel
-CenterForce Dual Friction Clutch (The lightest and smoothest clutch pedal I've ever felt, and it's rated to hold 470tq. It's magic.)
-Stoptech Rotors
-Stoptech Pads
-Stoptech Brake Lines
-Koyorad Radiator
-Mishimoto Silicone Hoses
-Intimidator Battery
-Zaklee Cam Cover
-Carbon Fiber torque damper
Interior/Aesthetic:
-Gruppe S 52mm Gauge Panel
-Prosport Boost, Water Temperature, and EGT (Exhaust Temperature) 52mm Gauges
-Sony Bluetooth head unit.
-Leather door cards from SSL (sun sound leather) package Evo. Original fabric door cards will be included with purchase.
-Evo IX tail lights.

-ALL OEM PARTS INCLUDED WITH SALE
-OEM exhaust components
-cams
-tail lights
-dash trim
-OEM door cards
-OEM intercooler piping
-OEM airbox, MAF, ETC, BOV, etc.
-pretty much everything else
Now we do have a couple cons.
First off, the hood has rock chips. Don't really understand how the P.O. managed to develop that many rock chips unless she tailgated a semi all day for years, but they are there. The wing has the very typical clear coat fading on the inner side towers. And the car does have very minor nicks here and there. Overall, paint is very clean.
Interior is beautiful. P.O. never had her children in the car, and they never road tripped with it. So it is nearly flawless.

The car has been tuned on 91 octane very conservatively to ~300whp. It is converted to speed density, so the MAF has been removed and the BOV is VTA. Could go well above 400whp with E85, bigger injectors. The engine itself is good for over 700.

Why am I selling it?
My goal was to get this car on the track a few times at least during my ownership. It never got the opportunity. Life gets in the way. Business comes first, and the toys have to go. The car was driven in the canyons, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Driven but never abused. Zero launching, clutch dumping, or silly things like that. But it is time to let someone else have a good time in it.

Keep in mind, this is not a project car, an in progress build. This is a COMPLETED AND WELL SORTED car, down to the tune and the alignment, as well as fixing all vacuum and boost leaks. All the quirks have been sorted out for you. This is the perfect car to buy if you want a great Evo which you can drive hard, and will be dead reliable and last a long time.

I can assist you with smog for all the time you own the car.
Please, let's not have any time wasting go on. Thank you.

All of that and you don't even list the mileage on the car.

As stated in the ad, everything.

I took advantage of the downtime and basically did everything I possibly could during the time it took to build the engine to modify as I pleased. The Ohlins were bought brand new, and installed during this time.

Tires went on with the engine, so they also have the same milage.

Bump and a price drop, asking $21k now. That just freed up your budget enough to buy yourself a big turbo kit :-)

Thanks for the kind words. If I wasn't starting up a business I would keep the car forever.

Really hoping it goes to a great new owner who will care for it as much as I do.

Valve cover will need to be powdercoated, and I can take care of that for the buyer in whatever color they would like with purchase.
It was originally painted with engine enamel, which really did not hold up well at all.
