Speed Density tune by JohnBradley!!!
So I started to play around with SD a couple months back and I finally gave up because I didn't have enough time to learn with school/work etc. I saw so many people doing big things with the tunes by JB@ER and posting reviews of their cars driving very well on SD with his tune. So I decided to give him a call and as you all know Aaron is super nice and always helps out with anything you need. The tune will be finalized as soon as I get my new 3" 02 dump.
Anyways here's my review of Speed Density vs MAF
Cold Start: On the MAF it would never do what the idle table told it to, rpms would bounce up and down and it would die off 50% of the time if I didn't hold the throttle. On SD it stays at around 1500 till its nice and hot and then drops a bit and stays there.
Idle: On the MAF the rpms would try to fall under 1000rpms and the car would start shaking trying to shut off. On SD the car stays at the same RPM...always.
Part Throttle: Part throttle was ok for MAF but now on SD the car is so smooth it feels like im in my dads Cadillac, when I shift there is ZERO jerking and the car feels like an automatic.
Off throttle: When I would let off the throttle on the MAF the car would try to brake itself and jerk a bit...SD it just rides B-E-A-utifully till I decide its time to shift or come to a stop.
I haven't done WOT yet but I'll try to see what its like when my tune is finished.
Overall, I can't believe that people don't think SD drives better than MAF...I drove it for a couple minutes and I will NEVER go back to MAF. If you don't like SD its because your tuner needs to learn a few tricks
Oh did I mention this was an E-tune, Aaron didn't even need to step in my car to make it drive like it does.

Thanks man im excited...everything is coming together for me...slowly but surely
Also looking forward to your results see if you can take the BBK a little farther on the 6-Speed...or are you getting a new turbo?

That means I need to do is make a SD intake...good deal.

its not really a trick, its just something you select in the speed density tuning. but i agree. way better to go off fuel temp then a AIT sensor. makes it easy
so how does he do the tuning? do you log your car and send him logs and he does the tunes that way? im interested in this because i need to go SD asap.

Also, yes he sent me a basemap with just knowing my mods, which is what I have right now...its not even a full tune and it runs like a dream. I just need a smooth, safe "Mexico" road to do some pulls in and I just send him the logs, then he sends me the new map with the modifications.
I guess you might know about it but I still see people buying AIT sensors and having them installed at the request of their tuner.

im glad its working out for you but let me just say this:
I run a gutted MAF and i experience zero of the things you mentioned.
And my car shifts as smooth as our bmw after i tweaked the desired ISCV tables.
The only thing causing your vehicle to shift jerky was the idle air controller not compensating
enough rev inbetween shifts..
easy fix ........ but im glad you like the SD and it probably free'd up about 15-20whp.

But yes I do love the SD...I'll be having some final numbers hopefully soon

Oh these are the cars I've driven that have one or more of the driveability issues I mentioned:
Evo 9 Black/Tial BOV - Mine
Evo 8 GT40R/Tial - Lance tuned
Evo 8 Stock turbo/Stock BOV - Cwill tuned
Evo 9 Red/Forge BOV - Jester Tune
Evo 9 Red/Forge - AWD tune
Evo 8 stock IX turbo/Greddy BOV - Shane tuned
So its just not one car or the same tuner.
