So, I decided I'd try my luck at getting some 1000cc injectors to go Flex Fuel on my stock turbo setup. After some research indicating that most of the 1000cc injectors out there are some flavor of Bosch EV14 units modified to hit 1000cc I decided to grab a set from an injector vendor online. They were advertised as "Bosch Motorsport 1000cc injectors"
This is already a good warning sign as Bosch Motorsport only lists up to 980cc in their catalog. I ordered them anyway, hoping I would get some 980cc Bosch injectors.
What I received wasn't exactly what I expected. The vendor provided a very nice spec/flow sheet with injector flow rates by serial number. BUT.... the top of the sheet showed the injectors being spec'd as 900cc. At normal fuel pressure most of them tested at close to 900cc. I'd rather have seen the 1000cc they were advertised as.
So, wondering what injectors I actually received, I looked up the etched Bosch part number: 0 280 158 117
Hmm... that part number isn't in the Bosch Motorsport catalog...
Google.... Bosch 52lb/hr - 550cc injectors
Yup, they de-capped and modified 550cc injectors to get them to spray almost 900cc wide open. While the EV14 seems to have a decent spray pattern de-capped, it's less than ideal IMO.
Anyhow, I contacted the vendor and despite being somewhat defensive he took care of me right away with a paid return label.
For anyone interested, the Bosch Motorsport part number for the 980cc injector is 0 280 158 040
For now, I think I'll be going another route but I just wanted to put this here for anyone thinking about going the cheap route.
