What size tire you running?
That has a lot to do with it...I know I’ll more than likely need to roll the quarters
I haven’t got them installed yet

I was running 255s at the time. Needed 265s, but I didn't expect enough room.
My last set was 9.5 +38 and I had zero problems.

OOOH. gotcha, yep. I use my car for competition, so a 245 tire on a 9.5" wheel just isn't going to cut it for me.
If we went even further and did the "hella camber" and stretch thing, we could probably get pretty aggressive back there.

im not one for stretching either...I’ve done lots of research

That's how my 255s looked. Maybe they were "narrow" for a 255. Sizes being relative, and all...

I will never understand a skinny tire on a wide wheel with an aggressive offset. More weight and less grip for why?

Does that tire look skinny to you?
Maybe because I don’t want to do a ton of fender and quarter panel work to fit my wheels and tires. When I’m ready to have the car repainted I’ll have them pull the quarters and fenders to fit a 265
You didn’t say anything about the sidewall height...is a 40 okay?
Most people running a 265/255 are running a 35 series sidewall
I would rather have more sidewall than “a number” width...some 245 have more width than a 255 tire and some more traction also

Most do it for dat car show stance. Performance isn't an issue for them, from what I've seen.

If you want to run a wide wheel and tire, why not just go with a less-aggressive offset? I run a 9.5+38 and have no problem running 255s and probably 265s. Less stress, IMO.
As for sidewalls, I run a 40-series, but on a 17" wheel. When I had the 18x95+27, my tires were 35.
I agree with the tire fitment being more important than a number, but I don't think I've ever seen a 245 work right on a 9.5" wheel. Not saying it's not possible, as there are a LOT of tires out there I've never used. What did you find that fits??

If your answer is "because I like the way it looks", just own it. But don't try to convince me you went with a +22 offset on 9.5 wide wheel because you don't want to do fender work

Plenty of less aggressive wheel sizes allow for up to a 255/265 tire with minimal fender work (i.e., slight roll on the rears). But whatever, your car, stance it how you like.

hahahaha thanks for putting that ridiculous picture in my thread....I’m the furthest away from “stancing” a car as anyone who is against it
No, I don’t like how a stretched tire on a wide wheel
looks and never will. Like I posted in the other picture
above with the car on the 245 width, it looks just as
wide as some people running a 255.
Another reason for choosing this offset was to have concave TEs
Here is another car with 245s on it....again, doesn’t look stretched to me

Ok instead of being snarky I will try to provide some useful info. First, a 245/40-18 tire on a Volk 18x9.5+22 wheel will not fit stock 8/9 fenders without rubbing. At least not with any lowering. I don't care what pics you find on the internet, I am telling you they will rub.

With an 18x9.5+22 you are looking at fender modifications, front and rear. Fender rolling is a crap shoot and may crack the paint around the bottom edge. Mitsubishi paint is crap.

Since you are looking at having to do fender mods, you might as well get the tire size you want to run. If its 245, so be it. But I would recommend at least a 255/30-18. The extra contact patch does make a difference in dry grip.

Personally, I prefer having a body shop (with experience doing this) shave the inner fender lips and painting them. How much they shave depends on tire selection and test fitting can all be done at the same time. This also prevents the 'dirt trap' effect of rolling the inner lip up.

Either way, best of luck, and keep us posted on how it all turns out.

Which tires are those? I've never seen a 245 fit that well on a 9.5 wheel. Maybe an NT-01? They run pretty wide. A 255 NT-01 was almost too wide for my 9.5 wheel.
