Ok instead of being snarky I will try to provide some useful info. First, a 245/40-18 tire on a Volk 18x9.5+22 wheel will not fit stock 8/9 fenders without rubbing. At least not with any lowering. I don't care what pics you find on the internet, I am telling you they will rub.
With an 18x9.5+22 you are looking at fender modifications, front and rear. Fender rolling is a crap shoot and may crack the paint around the bottom edge. Mitsubishi paint is crap.
Since you are looking at having to do fender mods, you might as well get the tire size you want to run. If its 245, so be it. But I would recommend at least a 255/30-18. The extra contact patch does make a difference in dry grip.
Personally, I prefer having a body shop (with experience doing this) shave the inner fender lips and painting them. How much they shave depends on tire selection and test fitting can all be done at the same time. This also prevents the 'dirt trap' effect of rolling the inner lip up.

The car will be totally restored and resprayed and at that time I will have them modify the fenders and quarters whatever is necessary to run a 265/40 tire before the new paint
In the process of respraying my brembos....I prefer powdercoating but not going that route this time around...dremel and endless sanding...I’ll get there

I believe he was showing pictures to show a 245 isn't a stretch (though I'm not sure how). I'm sure he knows how much work will be needed to get those wheels to fit.

Good luck! The only reason we keep questioning your decision is because a 265 tire fits easily with other offsets, so you are working harder than you need to. But given that you are doing it for the look of the wheel, that's different. As long as you don't mind doing the work, who cares? It's your car and the wheels are sexy. Good luck, dude!

That was the first thing to come off the car once I took ownership...I also believe this car was used on the track given the condition of the jackpoints under the car all along the frame being dented...so I’m sure it did get used and wasn’t just put on there for looks

There are many evo’s running 245s on a 9.5 wide wheel
Which tire/size are you thinking of going with? A lot of todays extreme summer tires run wider than days of old. I will be amazed if you fit a 245/40-18 tire on a +22 9.5 Volk wheel without at least rolling the inner fender lips nearly flat. The extra sidewall height is going to bite you, literally.
For instance, take RE71R's for example. The 245/40-18 has an overall diameter of 25.7", while the 255/35-18 has a diameter of only 25".
RE71 are weird. My 255s had almost as much stretch as the pics above, with the blue Evo. My NT01s were perfectly straight, and the R-S3 fit perfect. You never know what you are gonna get LOL.

I think we were both talking about the tow strap on that stanced-out car above your post.
The tires in that picture are a bit stretched for me, from what I can tell from that angle. My car is pretty much only used for track events and a bit of autox, though. If it were for daily driving, I'd say that's perfectly acceptable.

The Yokohama’s newer version of the 08R are quite a bit more than the Toyo Proxes r888r so that’s what I’ll be ordering. The section width difference between the 255 to 245 is only 4mm. I’m not worried about the tire diameter difference just bc many people have run the 40 series tire. Can’t wait to get these things.
Per tirerack, Yokohama will be updrating the treadwear from 180 to 200 to comply with scca regulations. Same tire, just updated treadwear rating on sidewall. Might be a good time to pick up a set.

I really did want those but this go around I’ll be trying the Proxes R888R. They will be here Monday to throw on the wheels and start test fitting and go from there.
Hard to juggle time to work on the evo and family time with just the weekend for right now. Got some more progress on the brakes. I will never go this route again. Next time they go for powdercoat. Ohlins are installed but I haven’t even drove the car since I started the brakes and won’t until they are done.
