RE: Snapped sway bar perches!!

I have the RRM rear sway bar and lowered w/ the Tien springs to give you all some background.

So the other day I was washing my car and when I was down by the rear wheels cleaning them I noticed someting kinda odd. The drivers side sway perch is on a funny angle. So, I checked underneath the car and sure enough - SNAPPED! The other one is stress fractured. I know I should have had the stock perche's replaced when I did the sway but I figured I dont' track the car really (not yet anyways) so whats the harm.

I'm going to SEE if this can get coverd under warranty. If not I'll order the RRM ones. I checked the sway and endlinks them selves and it appears to be ok....but the rear end feels really loose.

Friggen sucks guys!

this is what i don't understand about people these days

YOU added a bigger sway bar, and the sway bar caused the perches to break.. RRM already told you that they sold the new perches because of this problem, but you didn't get the new ones.. now you are trying to get mitsubishi to cover this part under warranty?

this falls under the "fraud warranty claim" catergory

Do you ever NOT put people down?

I didn't say i'm going to HAVE them coverd. I'm not going to lie to them. They've seen my car MANY times. In fact, they chose to cover my downpipe and flexpipe under warranty. I didn't even show it to them. By definition they shouldn't cover that - I have an aftermarket exhaust system.

If they cover it its b/c they are laxed on there policy NOT because i lied. I'm not some immature adolecent like your claims here suggest.

"I'm going to SEE if this can get coverd under warranty"

I don't put people down.. I don't make things up.. I am merely pointing out what you said.. I never once mention you are "some immature adolecent" .. prehaps it's some other issue all together

it's people who make fradulant warranty claims that make it hard for legit people to get warranty work done..

YOU PLAY, YOU PAY if you mod you car, something breaks, be prepare to pay, if you can't or won't or feel you were cheated, then don't mod your car.. it's not a hard concept to grasp

if you take everything so personal, and read into everything i say / post, then i apologize for the way it's coming across..

both counts (the Works air filter post and here) I merely mention what I think..

I think the works filter is a good deal for the money and that I wouldn't be wasting my time over $20 - $30

I think that trying to get a broken perch covered under warranty when it's not a manufactuer defect is fraudulant.. if you think that you are "in the right" then go ahead and screw the rest of us

I said that they MAY cover it under warrenty ONLY b/c they were laxed about the downpipe. Like I said, I'm not going in there lying about what I have or what happend. Its not like im swapping my old sway back to save my self the 30 bucks in parts. I could care less. However, if they are willing to cover it then thats there problem. I'm not gonna turn down a freebie.

if you have the stock downpipe and stock cat, i don't see why they won't cover the flex pipe under warranty.. it's not a matter of them lax or not.. since the UR stage 1 is dealer warranty covered, they have to do this work for you

the sway bar is another story.. even if they cover your part under warranty, ignornance still isn't going to justify the fraudulant claim

Hmm....I got both the RRM Progress Sway bar & Perches and I am a happy customer ...even my dealer installed them for me!!!The OEM perches could break even if you don't upgrade the bar (you can twist em with your bare hands). So what we can learn from this boys and girls: If you are gonna upgrade the Sway bar....go for the perches first...or better yet go for both of them at the same time if you can afford em!!!

Joe, I'm not going to argue with you over this. You have YOUR opinion and thats fine.

And the moral of my post was just that I'm a little surprised that they snapped considering that I don't track it nor do I REALLY drive it hard. Once in a while I'll take some turns fast but thats really about it.

Now, is it safe to drive the car (obviously slower in turns) for a couple days while I wait for the perches to come in?

What would be the benefit of this as opposed to just leaving it?? Just curious.

It could fall off and get lodged in the ground and then jam thru the bottom of your trunk..

I think it'll be fine if you just leave it. The endlinks will keep it from falling off/getting jammed anywhere/coming up through your trunk. You might hear the occasional clunk as the bar hits up against the car because the perches are busted. Just take it easy on turns and get it fixed ASAP.

IF the perch is just hanging there it could interfere with the suspension mechanism ...maybe. Besides, when you are putting on your new perches, you will need to take it off anyways. You do know that even if you get NEW stock perches they will break too!! Just call RRM and buy some perches. Simpe as that...or you can make em out of 1/8" steel if you have a welder and the equipment. I'd say call RRM

Well, as the OEM replacements are only $15 bucks I'm gonna get the dealer to put those on anyways (I'm already going to get my downpipe replaced - they said the flex pipe was buggerd). BUT, I am still ordering the RRM ones. I'm just doing this b/c I drive long distance's and I'd be more comfortable with it.

I just wanted to make sure that I'm not damaging anything over the next few days while I'm waiting on the parts.

I'm glad I did. Sucks though. It should be ok, as long as it doesn't jam anything.
