PWRC Day one
What day for the PWRC / Grp. N Drivers.
losing the first three stages due to some freak traffice problems. and all were given nominal times...
Mitsubishi while having a tough time in the Rock Star class of the WRC Cars.. is KILLING in the PWRC
Fumio Nutahara leads by 33 seconds ahead of another Mitsu driver Jasen Popov and the lone Subaru Driver in the top spots Nasser Al-Attiyah
With some competive times swaping back and forth Stage 4 (or is that Stage 1
)
Popov lead on David Higgings (Remember him from his Hyundai days here in the US ) by 6.2 seconds and a close Nutahara just 14.1 seconds off the pace..
And a repeat on Stage 5 with Popov and Higgins, and Subaru Driver Naser Al-Attiyah taking 3rd 10.5 seconds adrift of Popov in 1st.
By the end of the days last stage w/ Nutahara taking a commanding win by 39.9 seconds over Al-Attiyah and Popov 1min 7 secs back and David Higgins coming in 1 min 47.2 seconds back form Nutahara..
What Scrap fight...
Nutahara leads after a brilliant drive on Stage 6
Popov in solid 2nd after a inspiring after noon stages
Al-Attiyah sliding into 3rd after some consistant pushing sitting 5.3 seconds behind Popov
And Higgins back in 4th just after some differential and brake problems..
He had to complete the final 11 kilometres of the stage - downhill to boot
- with only the handbrake to slow the car with putting him 1 min 19.5 secs back from the leader..
TWO MITSUBISHIS IN THE TOP THREE
And one more poised to strike back on the brilliantly driven Al-Attiyah...
Stay tuned. this one's going down to the wire... a scrap all the way.. Wow what a first day for the Killers of the World Stage...
