Official Colored Rims picture thread!

Well it seems like there are more and more people just painting there stock rims anymore and I thought it would be cool if we started a thread with pictures of the results. Maybe list your color choices so other people thinking about doing this can have a reference as to what looks good.

You could also list what method you used to prep/paint. Im going to be doing this over the winter and would like to see some options.

I used the method described on another thread floating around.. I've painted stuff before so I knew what was up.. it's all about prep!

I used Duplicolor black primer, Duplicolor flat black paint, and duplicolor 500f clear coat. I'll update these pics this afternoon now that everything is dry.

It came out like a black semi-gloss. I really wanted a dull black but I like the protection of a clear coat.

Here's my gold ones. I used Rustoleum Bright Coat Gold metallic finish, and Rustoleum Clear Coat. I got the Enkei stickers off ebay.

those both look really good. I am wanting to do something similiar, just haven't decided on what color to go with. It is kinda hard to figure out on a yellow car, or rather I am having a hard time deciding. Either way great work to both of you.

For the sake of giving people other ideas/options here are a couple shots of the first two times I painted mine before I settled on the Gold.

The first time I did gunmetal (custom mixed paint) with silver lip.

And the second time I tried Bronze (Duplicolor Wheel Paint)

I think a black/gunmetal looks the best on a yellow car.

BoxRocket- I really like that custom mix gunmetal. Have you seen anything in a rattlecan that comes close to that color?

The custom mix was put into aerosol cans for me. It was a bit more expensive than buying some Duplicolor or something but it was nice to get exactly the color I wanted and have it in some easy to use rattle cans. Your local auto paint supply store should be able to do it for you.

Did you use anything to strip the paint off the OE wheels?

I sanded them. I didn't use any chemical strippers.

i like bronze the best
I like bronze too, that's why I tried it, but IMO the Duplicolor Bronze is MUCH too copper looking in color. If I were repainting with bronze, I would have a color custom mixed. The Duplicolor bronze is ok, but not the right color for me. I'm much happier with the gold!
