Going to the track tommorow...
Going to the dragstrip at cecilcounty dragway. in MD. its going to be the first time runnin my Evo im hopin for 13's.
Anyone got any advice on how to launch without abusing my car to much
not really tryin to break anything just going to make probley 2-3 runs.
ive never lanched the car yet and im kinda scared, i heard its like going threw a time portal
i was thinking of reving to 3k then let the clutch out until it grabs then go wot.

I've been wondering the same myself. I was trying out almost to redline then slowly releaseing the clutch till catching point then let go the other day and while yes, its a beast when you launch like that (i actually was really shocked how fast it went haha), im sure its not the best way to lanuch if you want to keep your clutch to last heh.
Launch at 3 K and your clutch will be done before the end of the night.
If you have a launch limiter bounce it off there and slowly release the clutch. If not launch at 5-5.5k.
Additional infor is available in the Drag racing forum
P.S Fast Shifting is important too.

launch at 6500, thats how my friend launches his evo 8....i like the IX's 2 step, even tho is should be set to about 5700-6000 rpm, not 5000
if u launch at 3000 u will bog, maybe even stall.....u gotta launch it high, dont be afraid, you wont kill your clutch after 2 passes( you'll be lucky if you get that much tomorrow night at ceicil)
i might run my car up there tomorrow, we'll see though

dont run it at all if ur scared, wait till its rainy out, practice on the wet pavement so u dont break **** until u get the hang of it, u should run low 13s stock. how is cecil btw, capital raceway in md isnt even a track. its a **** hole, MIR for life.

i dont know if its just me but up at cecil county dragway thiers always a ton of mexicans when i go in civic hatches, integras, and crx's that run 17-18's. and every night a ****ty Crx or something will blow up leaving a 500 ft trail of oil that takes a hour to clean up
Here's a small tip: As an extra measure to help keep from jarring the car too much on take off, you can always pre-load your axles by holding up the ebrake and slipping out the clutch a bit then releasing on take-off. It takes a little bit to get used to remembering to drop the ebrake when the light turns, but its helpful in keeping your drivetrain intact. Eventually you'll get the hang of it, and slip the clutch just right and the 60' times will go down.
