[Pics Inside] What happens to your drivetrain after 3 years of events! (56k No!)

T-Case apart:

Ouch!!!!!

T-Case from an Evo IX waiting to go in...

I had posted the other day that I had thought my 6speed had blown on track at an HPDE @ Pocono. Turns out that it looks like it was my transfer case! When it was finally yanked apart, it was clear that the pinion and rings were completely destroyed. The front diff maybe could be saved... but that's for another day.

I was running factory trans fluids, flushed in March. Downpipe can be seen in the pics in the background is wrapped for heat shielding.

After going back this weekend to old pictures and event info, I've done 11 track days on the car, 2 drag passes (when I bought it back in '05)...

...and 600+ autocross runs. Damn. 50+ events, 40+ of them with two drivers.

Car has 21k on the odo. Exedy stg 1 clutch replaced at 17k miles. Running as far as power, just a conservative tune (~300whp) Car has coilovers on it, and runs 275/40/17 V710s on 17x9 wheels. -3.0* neg camber F, -1.2R, 1/8 toe out F, 1/8 out rear.

Broken so far: 1/2 dozen wheel studs, a few lug nuts, clutch, T-case.

On course. White Evo's may be the fastest, but silver is the workhorse

Wow!!!!
In your case, it looks like BSP stands for Broken, Stripped, Pureed!

Question - is the final drive ratio of the IX TC and the VIII rear diff the same ??

No biggy, your t-case was just hungry.

How hard were you launching at autocross events?

Can't believe it lasted that long! Certainly pushed it to its limits. See you soon.

wow... that's impressive! What do you think the root cause was? Heat? Too long on the fluid interval changes? Fluid just not being up to the task?

here are some pics of mine

Drag racing + 5.5k clutch dumps + 47k miles/200+ drag launches = a blown t-case

My ACD portion of the T-case....everything looks good....

The other half of the transfer case....looking good...

The LSD....looks good.....but looks can be deceiving...

Here is the top off the LSD....hmm...metal shavings....

And the carnage begins...
