WORKS MR Short Shifter Installed

Just had my Works short shifter installed by EDO Performance in Huntington Beach.

To start off, works took a while shipping it out, but thats understandable seeing as theres only a couple if any people with this setup right now. EDO showed me what it consisted of. Its not a regular shortshifter like Ive ever seen before, Im not sure how to explain it even.

EDO let me know that Works would make them install it as they are a Works authorized dealer so I did so. They are a bunch of really nice guys over there, something that is far too rare with shops these days. The install ended up taking a few hours more than expected but I trusted the EDO guys to get it right.

Anyway. I get in the car to drive it home, shift into 1st. Mmmmm. Outstanding. I was thinking before "this is way too much to spend on a shortshifter" but I now have NO doubts. Worth every penny easily, there are so many other mods people do for this amount or more that dont make nearly as much difference. It improves the driving experience all around. The shifts are so short, and it goes into gear FIRMLY, but not by too much. I cant think of any way that this shifter isnt 100%. Its awesome. If you have an MR and are searching for a better shifting solution THIS IS IT.

Total (parts+install) = 300$

I was told that a dealer in SD (Ball Mitsu) stopped installing these due to grinding while shifting. I asked the dealer the other day when I was getting my shift knob warrantied and he said they don't sell it anymore. I didnt want to go into details because the guy looked like he was annoyed the minute I brought my car in.

Thats the rumor I heard as well, I called Works though and they assured me theyd had no such problems. And mine is still working perfectly. I have a very harsh track day tomorrow, thatll be the true test.

Also curious as to how your track event turned out man!

To those who have sent me PM's regarding this item, I will need a deposit and an appointment needs to be scheduled. Works is pretty particular about this piece, and it is a core exchange. Once we install the new Short Shifter for the MR, we ship out your original core back to Works.

As always, feel free to PM/Call for more information.

Core Exchange.. what the hell?? So pretty much they modify the OEM one, hmm.. its the only thing I can come up with since you mention core exchange..!! So what do they do exactly to it.. man it sounds like they make you sign a silence contract since no one who has that mod cares to explain in detail what really the WORKS SS is..

And all this time I thought it was a separate own design unit..

I heard it was stupid simple, thats the reason they haven't released it to the public, and honestly I think its pretty selfish on their part, they could easily make money selling this specific part that I'm pretty sure won't be able to pick up anywhere.

I have an idea on what WORKS does to shorten the throw on the 6 speed. I'm going to try it once I get the part that I need.

Not exactly sure what they do with the old cores, to be quite honest. We are an authorized Works Dealer/Installer. I'll just leave it at that.

By contract, we are required to keep the core. To deter knock-offs, the shifter is required to installed by an authorized WORK Dealer.
