any evo x owners come from a mazdaspeed 3?
Yes, I totally agree.
My warning was only for the OP that (from what I understand) was looking for a better "power feeling": if this is the target, I don't know if going from a MS3 to a X will satisfy him.
For sure the X is much more effective thanks to its traction and handling, no doubts on this.

Evo X
0-60: 4.9 sec
1/4: 13.6 @ 101.3 mph
MS3
0-60: 6.1 sec
1/4: 14.4 @ 97 mph
So please tell me how the MS3 is faster than the X!
You're talking about lightly modded compared to bone stock. Thats not an apples to apples comparison. Just look at the number's, the X is obviously faster.

They got 103 mph on the 2008(what I had) and 100 mph on the new one. I know every test can be different the speeds are absolutely capable of 100+ mph traps stock.
Check edmunds inside line, which in my opinion is the most comprehensive when evaluating vehicles. They didnt even do head to head against the Evo, they put the MS3 up against the WRX and Ralliart...probably because they're not in the same league.
lol nobody cares about the new ms3, but i loved my old one, quick and could haul anything you wanted, i just got to the point where i could not put power to the ground anymore, so i had to move up.
I currently have a 2009 MS3 GT and it's a great car, but limited.
There are many tuning limitations, which have turned me off of the car.
This is why I'm moving to an EVO X. For the potential to make much more than stock, but reliable power and not have to worry about the limitations of direct injection.

Ok no offense to the MS3 owners cause they are a very capable car. But there is no comparison between the evo x and the ms3 except probably with the 08 X stock tune. The FWD alone is a big limitation on the MS3.
i was shopping for an MS3 but got the X instead because of the AWD...i had a guy tailgate me forever in one the other day on a one lane road with a truck in front of me...i think he was following so close because he was trying to hide the smiley face grill
Finally test drove an X GSR and MR today while out of town on business, and test drove a 2010 STI afterwards. Both dealers allowed for an thorough test drive of each, and I can easily say that the X is by far superior to the STI. I'm a bit sad by by this asessement, as I love Subarus, and actually prefer the looks of the STI, but the Evo X just did everything right and the STI did everything wrong. The STI had plenty of "personality" with neat styling bits inside and outside, but the X was so focused and sharp.
Pushing the X, the X was direct and asking for more.
Pushing the STI, the STI was vague and questioning itself.
IMO the MS3 is a better feeling car than the STI, thought it doesn't have it's AWD "grip", while the Evo is the MS3 + AWD x 3.
What I've learned here is that both test drives and road tests are important. I knew exactly what to look for and what to focus on with the Evo, STI, and MS3 based on the many road tests, but it's ultimately takes the actual experience of each to confirm the findings or to understand why/what conclusion was reach.
For instance, the highway "drone" or "buzz" at 70-80 mph isnt anywhere near as bad as I've thought. It's no where near the booming dive bombing Cesna sounds of my ol Stage II WRXs and is only slightly louder then my stock MS3. The STI produces a good amount of it's own harmonics at those speeds and rpms.
Interior of the STI is neat with it's logos, colors and emblems, but isn't any better in actual material and fit. The MS3 seems busy by comparison. The seats actually fit me nice and worked well in the 30 min test drive (yeah 30 solid min in each the GSR and 30 in the MR), but did like how the MR's seats allowed a little more give for my torso and thighs especially given that I'm 6'2 and 205lbs. The STI's wheel telescopes and the seat goes up/down but in the Evo, those function are simply not needed with the natural driving position it puts you in.
So, now I'm shopping Evo Xs but since I love Subaru STIs so much, I'll be also looking for late model (06-07) GDs to drive to see if it's a Subaru STI I could love and live with.

Coming from an MS3 I can assure you that, though the 1/4 times for the X may be faster, it's entirely thanks to the launch advantage of AWD.
From a roll I really doubt a stock X would gain any ground on a stock MS3. The MS3 is a highway *****, that thing gets to 120 like a bat out of hell.
