That really sucks to hear about all the damage caused by a little screw!!! On a side note, to all the people that are going to remove their TBs and remove the screws PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE make sure you tighten them right!!!! We dont need you to post a thread about how you destroyed your motor with one of " Davids Bad TB's " because you weren't careful enough with the reassembly!!!! Big props to David for letting us in on the possible problem but like I said be careful guys!

Seemed like you got "screwed." Pardon the pun. Good luck on getting it back up. Engine had a lot of potential.

I remember finding the throttle plate screw laying in the bottom of the VSR on the time attack car when that happened. We were extremely lucky to retrieve it without it going through the motor.

At 41psi of boost I heard a loud BOOM..Not pop..Rpm's shot to 9k and wouldn't come down..After looking around..I had 2 screws back out on the TB adapter plate..with solid motor mounts, and the loud *** quartermaster..over time they back out..never saw it coming..

Bummer it happened to a fresh motor..Next rebuild will be better

Yeah, literally....

But **** happens, live and learn. Life's a *****, if it was a **** it would be too easy.
Just like my motor with 6k miles, now it's completely apart, just gives an excuse to upgrade and make it better.

Also besides for the screw "staking" on my foxbody stang the ends of the throttle body screws are "crimped" to prevent this, I think the last couple threads of screw is hollow so it makes it able to be squished and widen out. But the staking sounds better since you don't need really need threads sticking out of the shaft which interrupts the airflow.

I know I'm not the only one interested in pics I assume they will come when you got time to pull the motor and all that

I didn't plan on taking the time to take pics. The head is already apart and going through repair.

Turbo is already shipped to FP to be repaired. Block is still in.

The stories keep on coming...........good to see this isn't an isolated incident and it sounds like it's happened on a lot of different manufacturers......sucks but at least it's not just us!

Little Iphone video I did the pull before things went to crap.

This was just of how good the car idles, drives and the crazy *** tire spin in 3rd gear. Remember the car is on RE01's, 245-45-17's and strapped down tight!

Sorry to hear, but am just glad this wasn't attributed to engine failure itself. This is one kick *** motor and it excites me to see it in action. Well done sir and keep on testing.
