Saleen S1

Chinese built, mid engine, lotus platform, Ford 2.3 engine... hum. I am intrigued. If it can undercut the Porsche 718 by $10K+ it might be a game changer. https://www.motorauthority.com/news/...eles-auto-show

Maybe, but hey if the price is right. You can always swap the calipers if need be. As long as the manufacturing facility is state of the art and they can keep quality control high, I think it could be a big win for consumers. Plus no traditional dealer network cuts out the middleman. So long markups.

It does look cool. Hopefully it has the mustang motor in it, not the RS motor.

Ford is moving their small car production to china, so its probably going to have the Focus version.

I am sure Saleen will sort out the head/cooling issues. Though I am not sure why I have more faith in a Chinese company than in Ford. Shows how disappointed I am with Ford Performance I guess.

What would be the price difference of this and a mid-engine C8?

No pricing yet. But I would assume it will be cheaper than a C8. Given that its production cost should be considerably less than the car its based on, the Artega GT https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Artega_Automobile

I hope it will be competitively priced, otherwise why not go for the C8? A lightweight mid-engine RWD turbo would be pretty sweet though.

The Artega GT weighed 2425 lbs. with a V6. So hopefully the Saleen S1 ends up similarly light. The C8 vette will likely weigh close to 3400#.

Okay, no need looking at small cars at Ford.
