With a larger piston to wall clearance, yes.

Depends on the piston, but, generally, yes... Pistons for FI motors are designed to be subjected to a lot of heat, so the piston has a lot of taper too it, smaller diameter at the top then the bottom.

Too much piston to bore clearance.
Have you measured it?

About 0.008 inch?

The shop has it right now they are looking at the rest of the motor and should have a full report. Car had 17 counts of knock on light throttle.

That sound will be a different problem.

That sounds like the top end to me.....cams or rockers.
