Question Stock 9.8 hotside/71HTA. Which actuator fits?

Does anyone know if there's a wastegate actuator that fits a 2003 Evo hot side(stock 9.8) to an FP 71HTA? Do I have to get a universal mount actuator and make a custom bracket or is there a company that makes one for that application? This is my first Evo project, I come from LS/SBC stuff, I'm helping a buddy with his turbo swap and we're stuck until we figure this out. He had bought a Turbosmart actuator for an Evo 8, but it only fits the stock turbo. The factory wastegate doesn't fit. I called Turbosmart and they said they don't make an actuator for that application. I've been searching online for days and I cant find anything. Everything else is done and ready to reinstall, just need to find the right actuator. Any info is helpful. Thanks.

Do you need an evo 9 WGA? My stock WGA worked.

Funny you say that. He was first sent a Turbosmart actuator for an Evo 9 by accident. We tried it before realizing it was for a 9, It didn't fit. Do you have the 9.8 hotside or the 10.5?

I have the 10.5. Guess I got lucky that the HTA71 worked for my car with stock WGA.

Either way how'd you mount the wastegate to the turbo. The mounting holes on the 71 are different from the 16g and cause it to hit the flange.

Do you have another picture with different angle? From the top.
I have no luck searching on HTA 71 and 9.8 hotside. Closest was 10.5 evo 8.5.

I only have a video and it won' let me post it. I have a pic showing how far the rod is from the valve. Do you have the dual flapper 10.5 or the single flap?

That's not even close!
I think evo 8 9.8 are dual flappers and evo 8.5 & 9 both have single.
For videos, I had to upload onto youtube and then add the link here.
Any chance you can make something for the mount so the tip can mount on the lever arm? Washers maybe?

Even if I used washers to mount the bracket flush. The rod on the actuator is both too high above the valve by about an inch and a half, requires a bunch of tension just to get it to touch. As well as too short, the preload adjuster is at the last thread and it still comes just short of the valve. It'd require a custom bracket to come even close.

Did you try adding 1 or 2 washers under this mounting bolt (between bracket and turbo)?

It's not ideal, but if it works, you can use it until you find a permanent solution.

That would get the bracket to mount, but the rod of the actuator is still to short to reach the valve.

The turbosmart evo 9 version didn't fit? It looks like it would angle rod closer than the one you have.

There is a kit to extend the tip. It's a threaded extension that screws on to the end.

You can probably make this from your local Home Depot store.
