Test pipe?

So I’m toying with idea of replacing the stock CAT with a test pipe. Before I do I was wondering what kind of problems to expect What kind of HP gains? Will I need to retune the ecu? Backfiring? Etc. Any suggestions on a good brand would be appreciated as well. Thanks!

My first exhaust mod was a full 3" system & using a HFC. After some time i woke up (haha) & did the TP & the retune. Figure somewhere in the neighborhood of 10-15whp deleting the CAT

No back fires but if youre on reg gas its just like driving behind a 1970's pre CAT car Certainly a bit more decibel out of the pipe

Now, running E85 really helps w/the smell

I run an Invidia T-pipe but theyre all the same (sort of)

Good to know. When it’s time to pass emissions, do you have to put your cat back on and reverse the tune?

Yes you would have to put the stock CAT on if your shop does a visual. There are tunes avail where your emissions monitors are all active & you should be able to pass (depends on how CO tests of course)

If your EvO is just a weekender, i say go for it, but if its your DD, you may want to run a HFC & be nice to your fellow motorist
