Honestly, most of our testing has been with 264/272 and 272/272 combos. With them, there is certainly an improvement with retarding them both 2-3 degrees. We've only tested a couple of 264/264'd cars... not enough to make a blanket statement. But the two cars we've tested under somewhat controlled environments also benefited from the slight retard.

so would a 3 degree retard only apply to your tunes or would be your recommendation across the board

I've seen these settings help even without additional tuning so yes, I'd recommend them FWIW

I have mine at -2/-2 and it pulls hard. When I had them at TDC, it seemed like the power was there, but it was bottlenecked or something. I am not sure if I was just not opening the throttle wide enough or if they really needed the cam gear adjustment. Now it really roars!!!

Cam Gears.

Could you please post up a power compare of the 264/272 cams with gears straight up vs -2/-3 deg on 91 octane.

I have mine set at -3/-3. I figured it would just move the power band up just a c*nt hair more than -2/-2 would.
