Rule about saying "repost, IBTL"
Rule about saying "repost, IBTL"
It seems like people go crazy over reposts which makes sense, but its just as bad to just reply to a repost JUST saying "REPOST! DO A SEARCH" and not saying anything at all about the post or the whole IBTL thing. i think its just as worthless/waste of space. Cant we get a new rule that youre not allowed to say those things and should be recommended to PM a mod instead? i dont know just throwing out some suggestions, because the search function is getting hard to weed out the crap...
I agree, partially.
People saying "REpost, due a search" can be annoying. There are, however, times that it is appropriate, in my opinion at least.
I hate seeing threads where the anwser can be found in the FAQ's or when it's a subject that is literally brought up every 5th thread.
I'm willing to go out on a limb and say that 90% of the time that people say "repost" they are doing it because they know that it has been discussed hundreds of times.... Not that it is polite to do.
A good example is if someone says "repost," then posts a link to go with it to an appropriate thread. I've no issues with that.
All in all, I think people just need to try to be more tolerant and polite to others.
There is no way that such a rule could ever be enforced BTW.

I agree with Kelmar. Most people that I have seen saying Repost have either posted a link, which is always helpful or they were joking around about it. I haven't seen too many people be rude about it, but I could see how it could be annoying with no link and just telling you to do a search.
Those threads are usually closed when found. Best thing you can do is to post a link to where the answer is found, then wait for a mod to find it and close it. Also, best way to draw a mod's attention to a thread is to use the report post button.
its not the rude facter of saying it that bothers me, its the fact that they are bumping up the post by just saying "REPOST" which helps no 1 and just bumps it to clutter the other stuff. I know the mods do their best to keep this place clean but im just throwing out some little ideas to help the mods do their job easier on a huge forum.
True if someone says repost should at least add the link to where the appropriate information should be found. Whether it be a picture or an answe to a question, or just general info. Some of the newbs may have truly not seen the previous post and how many times some of us have searched and not found an answer to what we are looking for, only to later realize that it was the hundredth thread in the search. If you see a repost post a link to the original thread with the info.
