HOWTO: Getting rid of "sponsored links"
Hey Guys,
The intellitext ads were just a 30 minute test run. I was told it wasn't going to saturate the forums but it ended up doing so. I decided to pull them off the forums area because I didn't think it was worth the annoyance of seeing a hundred different green links nor would it benefit the forums portion of the site.
I did move the links to the articles section of the site, which sees less traffic and should be less of an annoyance. I will be running those for about a month just so I can see if Vibrant Media can help tweak the links to make them relevant to the site and the articles the links are running on. I won't be running them on any part of the forums or on the homepage.
Thanks,

I may not agree with it either, but it is fair and the facts!

The real profit goes to the spammer who collects all this information (and the resulting click through data). What they do is collate all this data from all their infected sites (their customers like EvoM) and build marketing reports for large media companies. These reports are worth more than gold. I used to work for a company that did this, and large companies like Google, yahoo, real networks, etc... pay 10s of thousands of dollars for each monthly report.
IMHO, Evom is being taken for a ride, sucking up server bandwidth so that some spammer can get rich off of EvoM click through data.
Now if the EvoM webmasters were smart, they would figure out a way to create their own reports so that each vendor could know their (and their competitors) click through rates to see how effective your latest marketing push and banner ads are in reaching your customers.
These spammers **** me off. They are basically getting away with what is essentially the Microsoft "smart tag" technology, somethat got them in trouble, yet these spammers are getting away with it.
