Evo's taking over?

Wow... ever since LancerForums has turned into Evolutionm.net, the lancers have really been left out. I mean most events are evo related, the evo forums are much more moderated and active than the lancer forums (which are all the way at the bottom of the forum list). Even a handful of evo owners feel the need to chime into the lancer forums and rub their evos in our faces or make us feel bad about it. It's pretty depressing.

I'd chalk a lot of it up to people having waited so long for Evo's to get here (USA) that there's a lot more enthusiasm and excitement. I know that's the case for me... I mean it's pretty cool to have an Evo after waiting so long. I wonder if 2.5/wrx/sti boards have the same issues? Or boxster/911/Turbo/CarreraGT boards, etc. I'm sure Boxster owners get sick of 996 guys saying Boxsters aren't "real" Porsches. As long as there are performance cars involved, there will always be dick-wagging. -sigh-

I don't mind. This whole site was designed and built for the preparation of the Evo. This site was, and ALWAYS will be, a Lancer Evolution site. No one can do anything about it. After all, where else are you going to go? There aren't any (if there are any) other Lancer forums that compare to the caliber of EvoM. And about the moderation, it already looks very daunting of a task to clean that Show & Shine section up. Every thread has OT in it. It's hard to keep up with.

P.S. I can't believe you just created a thread on this just now. A little late on the trigger, I see.

OK, not to be a jerk, but isn't it a Lancer site? Both my OZ and KK's Evo are still Lancers (to a degree). I know it's just semantics, but still.

I can only speak for the club I'm in (don't ask how I ended up in a Subaru club, OK?), but not at all. Nobody gloats at all. The occasional "haha, you're N/A" joke, but in fun and not to the degree of rudeness and cruelty I've seen on EvoM.

Hmmm I never have seen any of the rudeness and cruelity you speak of, although I'm most of the time in OT but you would see it alot in there.

I agree with your observation. And it make sense, as any forum would drift towards a car that has the superior performance of its class. Yes, it is unfortunate that the base Lancer is being left behind. But isn't the whole enthusiasm based on converting the Lancer into an Evo? Now that such feat is only a dealer away, little is left for the Lancer.

It could always be worse. I mean you could have a 1.8L DSM.

still even the old DSMs (turbo/awd) are surperior to our lancer. I dont care what anybody says, the evo is an will always be a lancer, its in the name, the website, the company, pictures, on the car, etc. If and when i ever get my evo, i will leave the name badge lancer on it, because at heart, thats what it is... a mitsubish lancer evolution.

We are all Lancers I myself have not seen the meanness you are speaking of. But If they are being jerks just complain to the moderators and they will fix the problem. They do it all the time for Evo to Evo arguments.

That's like putting a 318i badge on an M3, just because it's a 3-series in origin

Thank you.

If you don't recall the bashing that 1.8L DSM guys got back in the day, then take my word for it, owning a Lancer ES is a walk in the park. There was ABSOLUTELY no potential for that car, swapping in a 2.0T so complex that you couldn't even justify it, and turboing the stock motor was equally useless. Turbo'd Lancer's throw up some very respectable and impressive numbers, there's nothing to be ashamed of.

There's always going to be a pecking order for any sort of make of cars. But for christsakes guys, this is the internet, it's not like some big bad Evo guy makes his rounds on Friday night to take your paycheck and bend over your girlfriend.

But then again if any of you Lancer guys have any spare lunch money I'd appreciate it. $800 brake jobs and $212 tires ain't exactly the dream you think it is.
