Scheduled Maintenance in Austin?
Scheduled Maintenance in Austin?
In the interest of preserving my warranty, I decided when I purchased my Evo to have only "factory trained" persons work on my car. After the last trip to the dealer and subsequent conversation with Mitsubishi customer care, it has become apparent that dealers are hit and miss, and Mitsubishi does not stand behind them.
I could perform the scheduled maintenance myself, but I'd rather take it to someone with experience on the Evo. What shops would you all recommend for scheduled maintenance on a stock Evo?

So many evo's in austin yet few meet! I've only meet 1 other evo and that was by luck when does everybody meet? Ive counted atleast 10-15evos in austin alone and countless Sti's so any info on that... and im also looking to maintain my evo and may still end up at the dealership and to be honest I dont like/trust those guys.
Here's my story with Gillman Austin...
I went to them and asked for the 20K service for an Evo. They said sure thing, it will be 45 minutes. Two hours later, I get my invoice and all they document was an oil change and their standard "20 point inspection." I inquire about Mitsubishi's warranty requirements, and they say don't worry about it, "your warranty book is wrong."
I called Mitsubishi customer care later that day to inquire why their dealer was not up to speed on how to properly maintain (by warranty standards) the Evo. They basically tell me tough s h 1 t, each dealer "operates independently." Basically they do not stand behind any dealer, ergo their is no reason to go to the dealer for service.
Now get this... I looked at my invoice closer when I got home... they added over 2 thousand miles to my odometer reading! To some this might be trivial, but to me this is was the final straw that convinced me not to trust their work.

my experience with gillman in austin: my first evo (03 tarmac black gsr) i had 32k ish miles on it and my sunroof gets stuck open. im mildly modded and pulled up cammin pretty hard. and they look at my car and say the cant get to it today come back in 3 days. i come back they pop the hood and say no. i was like come on man its a freakin sunroof. so i go to gillman in san antonio...and no problem, 4 hours later i have a new sunroof, sunroof motor, and tracking.

I've had good and bad experiances with Gilman in Austin. Sadly they are the only ones around because Maxwell where I bought it closed down and the other one off of Burnet closed while they were supposed to be working on my tranny. Sadly I don't really trust anyone in Austin. Even if you get all your maintenance done by a professional Mitsu will give you **** if they want to.
As far as Evo's meeting in Austin, we used to back when they first came out. A lot of cars did. I have been gone for a few years and it turns out most of the car scene in general has died out. Minus the rice and the ridiculous crowd. I miss just showing up at CC or Fudruckers and BS'ing about cars.

MZM is a great place to take your car!!! As far as maintenance i just do it myself, but if u want a shop to take of u, i would reccommend MZM!
Hey milo i work at warlmart from 8-5 tommorrow and i need the day off, would pick up my shift?
Ps the meet on 620 would be your best idea if u want to meet some other evo owners

Im not sure if anybody likes Tex Mex food but if all goes well with the owner I could maybe make meets at Antonios. Big parking lot ok food ok place to meet right next to 183, I work at the round rock location but which ever one. Wal Mart
I guess I could I dont really care about the warranty becuase the dealerships dont really care either so your going to lose it either way.

I remember people used to hang out at the Home Depot on 1431, which may or may not have been by a walmart. Not sure I haven't been around 620/I35 in awhile. I'll have to look for a Home Depot or Wal-Mart.

LP, can you tell me why I wouldn't want to go to MZM for scheduled maintenance?
