Where to take my "8" for upgrades?
Where to take my "8" for upgrades?
I live in Central Louisiana. I'm 5 hrs from Dallas, 4.5 hrs from Houston to give you a perpestive. I just bought an Evo that is undrivable because the tune is completly off. I would like it tuned but also some upgrade put on from a VERY REPUTABLE shop that REALLY knows what there doing on an Evo. not just some decent tuning shop, I'm looking for a "Hey, basically all we do is Evo's, bring it here" shop. Does one exit? I am willing to travel 5-7 hrs for this.
Alexandria, can't say I miss it too much
I know there are some nice shops in Houston, I'd say check the regional forums. As for getting it running, You could prolly work with some of the vendors on here that do mail-in tunes. They'd have you log some stuff and tweak it via email. It'd be worth picking up the cable to get the car running. http://www.mellontuning.com/ has received nothing but good reviews on here that I have seen. Soon i'm sure I'll be one of his happy customers.

But that is was too complicated of a method to get it tuned for me, mainly because wwe do not have a dyno for up to 2hrs away and I don't know where an AWD dyno is.

This forum does not have a Regional section like other Forums does it?, or did I miss it?
How would I go about finding a regional EVO Forum?
You lived in Alec?

I wouldn't let the distance to the shop deter me. If you find the shop you want, GO THERE. I've had cars built all over the U.S. and have never regretted the drive. Long after the drive is over, you'll still be living with the job they do. I prefer Buschur Racing, simply for the quality of products and workmanship. I've made 5 round trips to drop off and pick up cars from them, and I've never had to worry about what was going to happen after I got the car home.
We are having a tuning day this Saturday, Oct. 20th, in Houston. Jestr will be road tuning. give him a PM and see if he can fit you in. The list is currently full, but see if you can work something out.
Look in the forum South Region to find the thread.

there's alot of options for tuning the car. road tuning with a data log and tactrix cable is the most common and of course dyno tuning to get a solid number from the wheels. IMO i think road tuning is better for a street driven car because your tuning based on conditions and streetable power.
if your looking for the most reputable shops : AMS, BUSCHAR, Ivey tuning, but these are far away from us.
the next best or closley matched are the many shops in texas like Jotech, Alamo, Evasive, etc. There are a few shops with dynos too, engine logistics, etc. On a personal standpoint i would bring the car to KevinD as i mentioned before he does great tuning and installs at reasonable prices. I'm sure he will be able to distinquish the problem based on his reputable experience and give you a nice tune in the end. I'm pretty sure he is all EVO too! haha
