Actually I didnt see any purple brembos but there was a blue evo sporting some brown ones. I had no idea that could even happen. He obviously had way more experience than me and looked really fast on the track. He's actually offered me a ride tommorow so I'm looking forward to that.

I can easily say this was the most fun I've ever had, and I learned a whole lot my first day. My instructor was exellent and we got along real well, he made it very easy to learn.

To those of you hesitant that have never done this sort of thing, you really have no idea what your missing out on. I'm pissed at myself for driving this car for so long having never done anything like this. I'm hooked to say the least and can't wait to go back tomorrow.

Stoic88, it was great meeting you and I'll be looking forward to seeing you again sunday. Sorry I disappeared there at the end, although I did finally found some brake pads out there so I'll get those in tonight. Turned out the guy with the blue evo had two spare sets in his trunk. I got real lucky there. John

If I understand things correctly Brimbo mixes the paint of the calipers so they will change color when you get them really hot. The red area should turn purple. Your disks should also change color from the extreme heat you generate as you break from ~C to 30 in 20 feet.

Glad the event went so well. I think Drivers edge will be at MSR in Novmember. If I'm not travelling I'll sign up.

This thread: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...ad.php?t=27464 is a great example of what I'd like to help make happen in our region. Any idea what MSR or the other tracks cost for a day?

That thread appears to be someone tossing around an idea that never came to fruition. I don't think "make happen" is the appropriate phrase to use when referring to that.

Here's the contact info for renting TWS (Texas World Speedway).

If you're serious, I recommend talking to someone who has a relationship with a track and experience organizing such things. For TWS, the owner of the ConeCrazy site (handle: shingle) is such a person. He's actually already offered his assistance.

It will be interesting to hear from the Evo guys who did The Driver's Edge event at MSR this weekend. I have a hunch their responses will be something like, "Yeah, a bunch of Evos at the track would be cool. But I just want to get back out there and drive, and I don't care who else goes."

Just a hunch.

I had a great time and I can't wait to do it again. It would be nice to see some Evos, but I don't care if you come or not. I got to race against a Lamborghini Murcielago and a brand new Porsche Carrera GT.

John4321 was a mad man out there. Nobody could pass him. He battled it out with a Z06 and an Acura NSX, and he beat both of them!

Well of course it would be great if we had some more evos there, Stoic88 and and and alot in common and our two black evos drew alot of attention. I'd be lying if I said I didn't enjoy that and we get club discounts if we show up in groups of ten.

For this event it cost $275 for the weekend, with 8 twenty-five mins sessions having a instructor in the car. You can be approved solo, but if you've never participated in one of their driving events they will determine your skill once you're out there.

I've also never met so many nice people in my life. I was amazed when I needed some tools and the Mazda Speed team out there just let me walk away with $1500 in snap-on tools, no questions asked. Everyone would just bend over backwards to help for anything really.

Yup, I'm hooked for sure. This was just way too much fun, and they made the learning process just so easy. I knew nothing about tracking a car before I went, and I feel I came a long way just after these two days. I've never felt more happy than when I passed that Z06, it felt so good. Afterwards anytime I'd catch him he'd get the hell out of my way, that made me smile too.

I still have so much to learn and I'm extremely anxious to get out there again. If I could go tomorrow I would. (yes berserker your assumed correctly ) The main reason I'd like to see more Evos there is I found this is a great way to get to know people. I would consider Stoic my friend now and it would be nice to have more friends like him with this interest.

Jason@ntec if your reading this and would really like to bring the club together as a community, trust me this is the way. I know it may sound silly going on and on about it, but I've never seen a better way to get to know people and to anyone who's done this before you have to know what I'm talking about.

Ok I'm going to shut-up know beacause I could go on about this weekend forever, so if anyone has any questions please feel free to ask. John
